Woutstanding

Post by bumba » Sun Apr 17, 2022 4:21 pm

Great performance, deserved 3 PTS much improved playing actual football, got the ball in to Wout's feet and what a difference.
Crap penalty from Cornet
Excellent from Nick Pope
Showed we don't need Dyche.
Two home wins now and we're back in it come on Leicester

Wout played like that vs Brighton and Spurs too. Something about our shape with Cork suits him much better.

Best performance yet. His link up play in the first half was brilliant.

He's a class act, we didn't play to his strengths. Today we did and we should of won. If we can win the next two we'll stay up

I’m not sure that we deserved three points, if I’m being honest. It was good but it needs to be even better, which hopefully whoever the new man is, will bring.

Maybe a draw overall was fair but the penalty would of been enough to seal the win.
Capable off that performance tho to make players happy and pick up enough points to survive. Never felt better all season just imagine how revived those players feel now the shackles are off

Top notch at holding the ball up with his back to goal, particularly when the ball isn’t on the ground.

Is it a coincidence that Weghorst once against looks class when Cork starts in midfield? It’s just obscene that Dyche didn’t play him in recent times and could send us down.

Yeah, I agree entirely. Shame that no one else could see that. Perhaps the frame of the framework got in the way.

Wout is a good player. We have lots of good players.
We just need to use them correctly. Today was a step in the right direction.

Hopefully his goal today will set Weghorst off on a late season scoring spree, strikers thrive on confidence, and today he sounded much better.

He can definitely play a key role in the rest of our season.

Amazing how a thread about Weghorst gets brought back to some posters’ agenda about Cork.

Wout's now scored as many as Wood in a team not doing as well or scoring as freely

It's not about Cork playing it's about how Westwood was told to play.

Sorry - multiple posts

Anyway I would say it’s a real stretch to say WW’s contribution is heavily influenced by Cork more than any other player

Our pass completion % today was the highest since Spurs at home. Several times Cork calmly linked play with short passes into feet. There is a clear link. There are several posts on other threads from many posters saying the same.

It's the agenda against Westwood that has annoyed me. Being blamed for doing what his manager wanted him to do.

That Weghorst flick to Jay in the first half was a thing of beauty, if only Jay Rod had the awareness to slide it back into him for a 1v1.

You appear to be obsessed with Dyche .Endless posts about it from you , you’re probs having some kind of breakdown with your frothing pleasure so hope all goes well .I was a huge SD fan but he’s gone and we all move on and thanks for the legacy .Guy deserves a good break and continue his career wherever he rocks up .

As for today we deserved the draw certainly and one of Popes saves was world class . We had one shot on goal ( inc a goal and a pen !) Fabianski had 0 saves to make . As ever we worked hard and showed no “ hangover “ effect .

If you compare their stats for this season then it's a no-brainer

If you look at how Wout has played when we've played into his feet, it's also a no-brainer

Wout>Wood

😂 Breakdown, over what? I'm glad he's gone he's taken us way off track the past 12-18 months. I can't believe so many haven't seen it and believed/fell for his rubbish for so long.

He isn’t a player to lump it up to, he is much better than that. I was impressed with his overall display today and stomach for the fight. Wout and Nick Pope were immense this afternoon. Sad about Westie but as a side we are still fighting.

Just watching it back on sky, he seems to be actively looking to head the ball today, it’s not a dig at him but In previous games he seemed to do everything he could to avoid it.

I don't know who you are but you are very disrespectful to a Clarets legend.

Cork was perhaps the only thing in 9 years Dyche didn't seem to get right but we've played well away from home before against big clubs and yesterday was a typical performance in a season with 13 draws including Arsenal, Chelsea, Wolves and Leicester.

In fact, we've drawn or beaten 6 out of the top ten away from home.

The problem we have is against sides around us who are battling for their life and sitting in. West Ham, after a big European performance, is exactly the kind of side we've been playing well against.

Give it a few games before making a judgement.

No disrespect whatsoever, can't thank him enough for his first 8 years, then something's changed and he should of gone a long time ago
