A small sample but some significant statistical differences between Dyche and Jackson, are now playing with the handbrake off.

I wonder what the Dyche equivalent figures were for the same (reverse) fixtures? Watford and West Ham home, Southampton and Wolves away? We didn't win any of them, and I would certainly expect Dyche's figures to still be lower, but when making comparisons it's worth remembering that Jackson has had a relatively easy (but still loseable) set of fixtures.

You can only play what's in front of you. It's what you do with those "easy fixtures" that matters.

For me, the freedom the players seem to be enjoying speaks volumes. They've looked shackled and afraid to go forward for years. The stats back it up.

Jackson might have had a relatively kind run of games but we played Norwich home and away, Watford at home, Leeds home and away, Newcastle away etc etc etc under Dyche and won precisely none of those matches.

The most significant change is stopping the 'channel' balls from Westwood and to a lesser extent Lowton to swap for shorter, safer balls using Roberts and Cork, keeping possession and getting us up the pitch where Weghorst, McNeil etc can actually play some football near the opposition goal. Cornet also plays 20 yards up the pitch when he's fit compared to under Dyche when he is used wide.

I don't think "shackles off" is that simple as we still seem to be starting games playing with fear/lack of confidence, but the belief is completely different once we settle down.

All fairly straight forward really. Trust your mate on the ball, if you lose it work hard as a team to get it back, there’s no harm getting bodies forward as long as they are willing to sprint back if the move breaks down, you can still be defensively resolute and cause a threat. He’s just took us back to basics and it seems to have worked.

As well as the improved stats from the midfield going forward, we shouldn’t forget the stellar performances of Nick Pope in producing a string of “worldies” that have kept us alive in these games. The rest of his defence haven’t been too shabby either

In 6 games against Norwich, Leeds, Watford and Newcastle we managed a grand total of 2 goals under Dyche.

Sums up our renaissance under Jacko perfectly. I couldn't be happier with out performances since Dyche left. Let's keep up the momentum and belief til the end of the season.

However, it's fluffy.

There simply hasn't been enough matches to make any clear conclusions beyond a "new manager bounce".

Let's just hope it continues until we're safe.
