Re: Tarks injury
If it was just tight and he came off as a precaution (he looked to be walking ok) maybe not.

Article says we'll know more on Monday/Tuesday. Same for Vydra so hopefully both can return quickly. Nothing to suggest he's out for the season (yet)

Re: Tarks injury
If it had gone, he surely wouldn’t have walked off as easily as he appeared to do. Let’s await the assessment before the worst case scenario outcomes.
I did my hamstring during my less than illustrious footballing career - the bruise covered the whole of the back of my leg, from below the knee up to my arse! There was no walking off the pitch as Tarkowski did.

Re: Tarks injury
We need to have Tarkowski, Vydra and Jay available if we want to stop up. If we can get them up and running we might just get something at Villa and Newcastle at home

Don't pin your hopes on Vydra. Done his knee hasn't he. Think we've seen the last of him in a Claret shirt.
Re: Tarks injury
I've torn a hamstring and believe me he wouldn't have walked off had he torn it.

Even if he hasn't torn it, he'll struggle to be fit for Sunday
Might be ok for the last two games
Christ, we better hope he is

Re: Tarks injury
A strain to the hamstring is a week or ten days, even a mild pull is a couple of weeks minimum.
Villa away is twelve days from yesterday.
Getting him to the dressing room to get it iced immediately could have been so important.

Re: Tarks injury
Somehow we need to get him out there by Villa game .Cornet is fit again ( almost ?) and Jay training so some optimism . No idea with Vydra but if it’s his knee…

Re: Tarks injury
According to CT on here, its something ligament related, so he's not going to be fit eitherAlargeClaret wrote: ↑Sun May 08, 2022 6:11 pmSomehow we need to get him out there by Villa game .Cornet is fit again ( almost ?) and Jay training so some optimism . No idea with Vydra but if it’s his knee…
Jay would be a big improvement on Barnes though, and anybody else being fit for Sunday would be great

Re: Tarks injury
Did my hamstring playing cricket. It certainly wasn’t a full tear as I carried on batting and got a 50 (with a runner of course!). I managed to drive home and was cycling again (stupidly) within a couple of weeks but certainly wasn’t doing any running for a while.

Re: Tarks injury
I'd definitely be choosing my battles wisely. I wouldn't be tempted to push him for the spurs game and see what state he's in for the last two, which on paper are the ones we should be aiming to take something from.
Leeds in a similar situation really, lost influential Ayling due to his stupidity

Re: Tarks injury
I’d be livid with Ayling, if I were a Leeds fan. A ridiculous challenge at the best of times but to make that challenge with three important games coming up, was stupidity of the highest order.ClaretFelix wrote: ↑Sun May 08, 2022 6:27 pmI'd definitely be choosing my battles wisely. Re: Tarks injury
The good thing about Tarky’s injury is that when he went down about 30 seconds into the second half he hadn’t done any running, just light jogging. It seems likely he felt something first half then tried it out but it hadn’t gone away so came off. Makes me a bit more confident about Villa.
Re: Tarks injury
Thought we had a magic machine to speed it all up?

How many matches is Ayling out for?

Re: Tarks injury
Straight red for a bad tackle, so should be 3 game ban I'd imagine, big blow for Leeds, and so rash from an experienced pro, you could understand a rookie making a poor decision, but he's supposed to be one of their calmer heads,

Collins is more than good enough.RickyBobby wrote: ↑Sun May 08, 2022 10:42 pm3.
We need Tarks and hopefully Ben as well back for the last two games, or at least one of them back.
If we don’t then we aren’t going to stay up with a back 2 of Collins and Long. Not a chance.

Where is Ben up to in his return?

Re: Tarks injury
Save everyone with niggles for the last 2 games if Leeds lose against Chelsea. Play some of the U23's at TH. You never know, they might pull something out of the bag.

Long up against Kane and Son does not fill me with confidence.

Re: Tarks injury
Not sure he has
Long remains our best option as a genuine centre half. I seem to remember Dyche saying that Taylor, in his first season with us, could become a centre half. if there is no appetite to play Long then Taylor at CH and Pieters at LB is an option. Spurs dont throw balls into the middle from open play so Taylors pace might be what is needed

Has there been any update on this? Haven't heard anything.

Re: Tarks injury
I'm less worried about Tarks being unavailable for Sunday as I don't expect owt whoever plays tbf, but for the final 2 games we're absolutely stuffed if we have to rely on Long at CB. He's good, but has never, ever been good enough for this level unfortunately and it's the injuries to both Tarks and Mee which will ultimately be decisive in our relegation I feel.

Re: Tarks injury
This will be the same Taylor that Matty Cash gave a 5 yard start to on Saturday in the first half and got to the ball before him in front of the BL stand?Down_Rover wrote: ↑Mon May 09, 2022 10:21 amNot sure he has

Re: Tarks injury
If Tarky isn’t fit I’d be starting Bobby Thomas over Kevin Long who as a few people state has never been and never will be good enough, he’s experienced in age but not actually in games so for me there’s not but difference between the two on that front. I’d also be tempted (if Jay is not fit) to start Costelloe along side WW. Barnes and WW simply did not work on Saturday and while again Costelloe is in-experienced at this level he has been scoring goals in the U23s which as a striker will have given him confidence and a hunger to get more.

Re: Tarks injury
What’s a shame about this is that it is “after the lord mayors show” for Spurs. Two and a half days after the north London derby that could finish their season. Easy to imagine us getting something if both Tarky are Cornet were fit. It will be a gamble how long to rest Tarky for if it is a borderline one but at some point, we may have to gamble if the player(s) are willing.

Re: Tarks injury
I think the worry with Kevin Long stepping in is that when he's been called on before it's always been alongside either Tarks or Mee.
This time he's the more senior centre half and I'm not sure he's got that leadership quality.. mainly because he's never had to show it.
May need an experienced head in Pieters or Stephens sitting in front.
I like what I've seen of Bobby Thomas but again I would worry about the dynamics in an untried Collins partnership.
Let's hope Spurs lose against Arsenal and have the wind knocked out of them for Sunday.

Re: Tarks injury
Macca do you know if he has a chance for Villa / Toon pls?
Agree if Mee or Tarks can't make those two we wont pick up another point.
Not Long's fault but will always get ripped apart at this level.

Re: Tarks injury
It is horribly disloyal and cynical of me to ponder whether this is out of contract players becoming overly protective of themselves.
Unless they have some pre-nups signed it's a very risky period for them career wise.
