Re: Dennis Waterman
Had a horrible feeling this would be an RIP thread,
Dennis was somewhat overshadowed by George Cole in Minder, but they were a terrific on screen duo.
And Waterman was certainly an icon of that generation for many.
RIP Dennis.

Re: Dennis Waterman
I’m old enough to remember him in Just William. As others have said, he was great in The Sweeney, Minder and New Tricks. Also excellent, in a very different role, in The Lives and Loves of a She Devil back in the 80’s.
RIP Dennis - a part of my TV viewing my whole life.

Re: Dennis Waterman
Sad news , Waterman was a mainstay of my younger years , the sheer thrill of the Sweeney and the simply brilliant Minder forming a classic double act with Cole. Lampooneey
aside the Minder theme tune was iconic and just perfect for the show .

It’s Dennis Norden. It’s a “thing” on here (and without meaning any disrespect) that a foto of someone “like” the deceased is posted on the thread.Ashingtonclaret46 wrote: ↑Sun May 08, 2022 4:21 pmSad to read this news, always enjoyed watching him in various guises. RIP Dennis Waterman.

Re: Dennis Waterman
Gunshot wounds to the head apparently
I used to like the Sweeney and Minder. Played the part of a likeable tough guy very well.
Went to see a film in the seventies, with Dennis Waterman and Susan George, called‘Fright’ and it scared me to death. Seen it since and realised it not that scary.

Re: Dennis Waterman
I once went to see him (and his then wife Rula Lenska) in a play at The Palace in Manchester. Half an hour before it was due to start I went into the pub next door for pint and saw Mr Waterman sitting at the bar just finishing his own pint and ordering another!

Re: Dennis Waterman
Who is the policeman in the Just William picture? Looks like the actor who played Frank Haskins in the Sweeney.
And anyone else there for Susan George's appearance in Burnley, re-opening Burtons in 1976-ish?

Good singer too.Loved the intro / exit music for New tricks .Rock on dennis
Re: Dennis Waterman
Great poignant personal memories of "Minder". It was the series I remember the most when I think of my late Dad and his beloved second wife, Linda, who was like a real mother to me. She's gone too and now the last of the four of them, Dennis, has passed away.
We loved that series.
They talk about "chemistry" between actors. Well, there certainly was something very special about Dennis Waterman and George Cole.
