It is when it's getting someone experienced into a role - not sure how that fits in with some of the recent BFC appointments.

Re: 1st team physio
Social media is a powerful platform to use to get the right people applying, the people who are being targeted may not see the advert but those who know them do and pass on the information.
I had recent experience of this when I was tagged to a job with the club. I had a very positive engagement with both HR and the interview process, albeit I didn't get the job it was still very positive from all aspects and one I believe the club has got right.

Genuinely surprised people think it's strange for a football club to advertise roles with their first team online.

Re: 1st team physio
Some strange debates on here about the suitability of TWITTER for recruitment. What worries me most is that we obviously need a first team physio , and with all the disruption in the club let a very experienced one go with 8 games to play, who they could have let go in 2 weeks time. At that point I suggest more become available. Unless of course Beattie did something wrong that led to his dismissal

We don’t really know why they got rid of the old staff. We definitely don’t know the best way to replace them. It is just speculating.
I do think it is fair to say that compared to MLS the PL is a massive learning curve and some of these issues, sports science at such an elite level of physical exertion being one, will be hard for them to make the right calls without lots of advice. Not sure we are the ones to provide it though.

It would be weird if Twitter was not part of a recruitment strategy.
Alongside LinkedIn, Twitter is the platform used by professionals for social and work related content.

You could make the same argument for the American franchise sports. They’re steps ahead of the Premier League. The collegiate system is ahead of the academies…CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Tue May 10, 2022 3:30 pmThis thread is in the realm of trying to think of things to poke the new owners with.

Different system, you hit the nail on the head franchises, look at the number of clubs that have dropped their fans and their communities chasing the money. Milton K Dons are hated for very good reason. Association football is not comparable to the American franchise system, take away the community from football you are left with an empty shell. MKD should be a major force with their catchment area… that they aren’t is due to the fact they have no history or soul, their populace no history with the club.Blakesboots wrote: ↑Wed May 11, 2022 2:07 pmYou could make the same argument for the American franchise sports. I agree, I am making reference to the supporting systems of the football club. Sports science, contracts, player welfare, and so on. I feel the American model is better suited, and far in advance of our own systems.elwaclaret wrote: ↑Wed May 11, 2022 2:13 pmDifferent system, you hit the nail on the head franchises, look at the number of clubs that have dropped their fans and their communities chasing the money. Ironic considering the medium you’re using to highlight that point. Communication is changing, we’re changing with it.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Wed May 11, 2022 2:39 pmYes & chatbots I think some of us have lost the ability to interact face to face.
I agree, face to face conversations are the gold standard.

Re: 1st team physio
What, that I didn't get the job
In all seriousness though, if someone else fitted what the club wanted that's fine by me. I'm at the end of my 'real'' working days as I retired last year and although I have no idea who got the post, I really so wish them well in that job.
All I can say is all my dealings with the club were very positive and a very professional encounter.

It’s hilarious when some posters are opposed to social media such as twitter etc it’s likened to using beehole forum as a like for like comparison & hypocrisy is cited, global SM platforms dealing with millions & millions of users & a large hefty handful of Burnley fans are somewhere roundabout communication is changing because some people are becoming lazier, you want to talk to somebody get off your backside & go & knock on their door it’s not complicated it’s the old fashioned way of getting things done simple & effectively.Blakesboots wrote: ↑Wed May 11, 2022 4:25 pmIronic considering the medium you’re using to highlight that point. I wasn’t around in t’olden days, but I’m presuming that when an employer had a vacancy they wanted to advertise they didn’t go and knock on the door of every person of working age?Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Wed May 11, 2022 5:13 pmIt’s hilarious when some posters are opposed to social media such as twitter etc it’s likened to using beehole forum as a like for like comparison & hypocrisy is cited, global SM platforms dealing with millions & millions of users & a large hefty handful of Burnley fans are somewhere roundabout communication is changing because some people are becoming lazier, you want to talk to somebody get off your backside & go & knock on their door it’s not complicated it’s the old fashioned way of getting things done simple & effectively.

Not directly to the employers door no but I’m assuming interviews will be held in a room with some sort of door attached, there’s nothing stopping some sort of notice being put out this is where you need to go if you are interested & come & knock on the door if I’m busy sit down & wait your turn.

Don’t worry, I suspect the best candidates will be invited to an interview where they may have the opportunity to knock on a door.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Wed May 11, 2022 5:24 pmNot directly to the employers door no but I’m assuming interviews will be held in a room with some sort of door attached, there’s nothing stopping some sort of notice being put out this is where you need to go if you are interested & come & knock on the door if I’m busy sit down & wait your turn.

It’s just a method of doing things, if I want to speak to you I’ll knock on your door I wouldn’t even think of texting or any other method it’s plain & simple face to face.

Ah, so Burnley should be advertising job vacancies face to face, makes sense now.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Wed May 11, 2022 5:30 pmIt’s just a method of doing things, if I want to speak to you I’ll knock on your door I wouldn’t even think of texting or any other method it’s plain & simple face to face.

Does it matter?
In the grand scheme of things does it really matter so much to people like you?
Is it any worse than the club becoming aware of the availability of Defour via a football forum?

I don't care, I've just never seen another top professional club advertise important first team jobs via Twitter.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Wed May 11, 2022 6:19 pmDoes it matter?

Re: 1st team physio
No, but it's a PL club advertising for first team staff. A physio, in fact. Which is what you asked for.
Via a football recruiter which advertises on Twitter.
And on their own website.
