We need Mike Dean on Sunday, our lucky charm. But no doubt we will get Tierney, Moss, or worse, Taylor.

Where did the extra 6 mins come from, at the Leeds match?
There was an injury that ran from 86 to 89, for a start.

Leeds will beat Brighton - didn’t happen. Spurs will batter us - didn’t happen. Brentford will be on the bench and Everton have got this in the bag - didn’t happen.

Too many on here just willing the worst. Brentford will want to finish top 10 and there’s some bad blood between Brentford and Leeds when Leeds were promoted ahead of them a couple of years back. It’s still in our hands regardless - the players are showing some bottle, it’s about time some of our support did.

Doesn't matter, they scored 2 minutes into it.

We need to start well at Villa, on the front foot from the whistle. Too many times this season we've started poorly in the first 15-20 minutes of the game. We got out of jail at Watford but Villa wont just roll over if they go up 1-0.

We can't afford to go 1-0 down early on, we don't score enough goals to climb that mountain with any regularity. Front foot, out work and out fight them, make it a battle of which team wants it more. At the home game, we were decent first half just another slow start. We had a really poor opening 10-15 minutes against Soton and Wolves too, it's a theme this season.

this and last season have been woeful for the most part, slow starts and lack of goals ! I'm hoping Gerrard has such a desire to sign Philips from Leeds (they'll need to drop for that to happen) that he picks a bunch of kids !

It's now vary simple. We require a maximum of 4 points from the next 2 games, and it won't matter what anyone else does. So Villa is not a must win, its more a must not lose. If Leeds lose at Brentford, that will be enough because of our superior GD.

A win at Villa would put huge pressure on Leeds, knowing they have to win at Brentford to have any chance

It’s a must not lose but a win would really put us in a position I can’t see us messing up from.

Still one from three in my opinion. Everton, though favourites to stay up, could go down if there is a twist on the final day. A lot rides on Thursday night’s games, where Everton need something against Palace, and we need something against Villa.

One win needed, I think Leeds will draw at Brentford. Get a win and we stay up. We have two bites at the cherry.

The strange thing is that we could win at Villa but still go down, or we could lose and still stay up. Also if Everton don't win on Thursday they are bang in it.

Villa 0 -1 Burnley

Burnley 0 -1 Newcastle
Brentford 0-1 Leeds
RELEGATED

Villa 1-0 Burnley

Burnley 1-0 Newcastle
Brentford 1-0 Leeds
SURVIVED

It is going to be a last match shoot out between three teams if Everton don't win on Thursday with two of the teams playing away against good opposition.

The weekend gone has only guaranteed one thing - we are no longer able to stay up without getting a point. That safety blanket has gone

That's not correct if Everton were to only draw one of their remaining games against Palace and Arsenal.

Villa are 15th in the home table and 10th in the away table. They concede more at home than away. Implies they prefer to work on the break a la Spurs. I can see five at the back again.

The interesting thing in the remaining games will be how many ex Clarets as players or manager have a part to play. Ings, Trippier, Wood, Keane, Howe. Not just minor ex Clarets either, some of our biggest names in recent years.

Of the five, I expect Trippier would be heartbroken if we drop, but he is such a pro he’d do it anyway then struggle with his emotions afterwards. Eddie being an Everton fan is another dynamic.

One way or the other, there will be tears in the next seven days.

How do you work that out? Leeds could beat Brentford 10-0 and we’d still stay up by only taking 4 points.

Not a must win, although a win would be great, but definitely a must not lose, as a defeat takes it out of our control, and we'll then be relying on Leeds not winning at Brentford.

Villa can blow hot and cold, at TM they were hot, and crucially clinical when their chances came, in a way we were not.

One other factor to note is we have a decent record at Villa in recent years, and the carrot of victory is huge for us, a win and we're almost over the line.

The Villa home game definitely could have turned in our favour had Dwight scored when he should have. We have since been weakened with injuries but that didn’t stop one of our better away performances of the season yesterday. For me it is all about getting the shape of the team right for a different threat to the one caused by Spurs who are a much better team. That said when Spurs played at Villa park they could have been 3 down at half time. We need to hope Ings and co have a poor game tbh but with the grit and determination shown at Spurs I believe we will get at least a point.

For me the grittiness of yesterday has been there for a few weeks now. What scares me and it will be the key factor in whether we survive or not is converting chances. With Rodriguez missing as well as Vydra (and I appreciate neither have scored many this season), you just wonder who will score.Plus Mee & Tarks were always good for a goal. I think its 15 months since Barnes scored and Cornet seems to freeze when he gets close to goal .

Let’s be honest we are all papping it this week but it makes me feel better seeing what is written on other forums. Leeds are the funniest - constant worrying about Gerrard saving his side for City to help Liverpool, and worried about Howe doing us a favour. Then they lurch into optimism that Taylor and Wood will have Leeds loyalties when it matters. Everton fans seem a bit more relaxed, they know they are nearly there.

I’m a bit more pragmatic - nobody ever does us any favours, we’ll have to do it all by ourselves. As it should be.

I'm more hopeful of getting a result after yesterday's performance. Villa fans will want Leeds down so they can get Phillips hope Gerrard feels the same way 😃

The defenders and midfielders have been chipping in here and there and I suspect the same will be needed. For me Collins is more of a threat than either Mee or Tarky on set pieces. A good old fashioned OG will do the trick if that’s what it takes. A clean sheet at Villa is like gold dust.

They’ve certainly got some nerve about Taylor and Wood considering the absolute vitriol that was sent their way by Leeds fans when they left the club.

Even a Burnley win and an Everton defeat doesn't guarantee our survival, as come Sunday we could lose and Everton and Leeds both win, unlikely yes but by no means impossible, shame about Leeds ragging that late goal, as otherwise we'd know 3 points at Villa would have seen us safe, now whatever happens on Thursday we'll have to endure an agonising afternoon to see what our fate ultimately is.
