I remember going to Edgley Park in late 90's and I think Andy Mutch scored. I remember it because a streaker pushed past me before scaling the wall and running onto the pitch.

Wasn't it all down to one Stockport journo, Bellis I think his name was?

He stoked up the locals into a froth about us but, as commented, we didn't really notice.

(I've just noticed their president is a Bellis, surely not him?)

There was a Bellis however I’m not sure if he was employed by Stockport , one of the fanzines at the time, might have been NNN or Marlon’s Gloves was highly critical of him.

The thing with Stockport was that we always used to draw them in a cup and we seemed to be playing them every other week.

Some lively days away in Stockport, lived in Macclesfield & had to re-educate a few of them, had a do at Manchester airport with a group of them as well.🤭🤭🤭🤭

Just checked, Bellis was a journo and according to the NNN fanzine he wrote a rabble rousing article about Burnley being Stockport’s main rivals.

The *ahem* 'rivalry' was almost entirely one-sided and stoked up by mainly by their fanzine The Tea Party who realised no-one gave a stuff about Stockport so they invented a beef with Burnley just as something to hang jokes on.

As said above us playing them quite often for a period helped fuel it, as did us filling their away end and it invariably kicking off as the fixture got increasingly nastier.

The other clown fanning the flames by inflaming the fans was the aforementioned Steve Bellis, who slagged us off while writing for the local rag before becoming their commercial manager.

And yes, he is now the current club President.

Thanks for helping piecing the jigsaw together, thought Bellis worked for the club.

You're right - I found this on Google

"Taylor comes from a sporting family with his twin sister Becky, a Great Britain U16 basketball international; his uncle Steve Bellis is a director at Stockport County while his dad Martin was for many years the man behind Stockport County mascot Vernon Bear!"
