Calvin Bassey

I was really impressed by him last night.

If we stay up he would definitely be a player on my transfer list.

Realistic target , given we are unlikely to be a Big Spender in the summer...

Not good enough defensively, often plays left back and I wouldn't say we need a full back

He was very impressive defending last night.

He’s young enough and could replace in Taylor in time.
Especially given Pieters is out of contract in a few weeks

If we're selling anyone worth a fee to repay our loans, who knows what positions we'll need. Taylor's a saleable asset.

Played left back at times, but is a centre half by trade, looked very good last night, right age and could be a star, think Stevie G will take him to villa though.

Has he played under stevie g?

It was his athleticism that made him stand out for me. He looks built for the premier league

is he? I think Taylor's had a seriously poor 2 years, hasn't quite kicked on to what I expected.

It was Stevie G that gave him his debut at Rangers, he's been getting rave reviews for a while, but I haven't seen him play that well before, he is defo built for the prem that's for sure, big, fast and strong but also seems decent on the ball.

Superb performance last night from Bassey, the recovery from the slip was just brilliant.
Barring that one moment, his touch was excellent all the match, I'd go as far as to say that he's the man with the Midas touch.

Rangers picked him up from Leicester on a free in 2020, although given his age I guess there would have been a compensation fee.

However this just shows that the talent is out there if we look hard enough, and Bassey will have caught the eye of many clubs with his assured display last night, plus similar to Collins his pace gets him out of trouble at times.

Interesting I didn’t know that.

Yes I have read that Rangers fans are raving about him this season.

This is what I think. When was the last time we signed someone who wasn't fairly mainstream?

Played well last night, and who knows what the summer will bring?

He made quite a few rash defensive decisions which he was able to recover due to his athleticism and great 1v1 defending.

The 1v1 thing is something which people tend to notice more but in terms of his decision making, positioning etc. he's got a lot to develop IMO. Similar to Aaron Wan-Bissaka, people thought he was a great defender because he won loads of tackles when at Palace.

Not for me I’m afraid.

Reminds me of Andre Bikey.. can be great but switches off mentally regularly.

Not sure why he would leave Rangers (guaranteed European footy every season and a 50/50 chance at a league title) for Burnley.

If he leaves Rangers he certainly won't be going to Burnley, however he has been heavily linked to Villa in the Scottish press today, which is understandable given the Gerrard link.

He’s rumoured to be on between 6-8k a week.

We could offer him 6 times that amount and he wouldn’t even be our top earner
