No
He has brought too many players in to the club that can't retain possession or score goals.
It took it's toll in the end.

Well that's not wholly true. Essentially we've ri the same 1st 11 for Almost 3 seasons. That's what's take its tollQuickenthetempo wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 10:54 pmNo

Re: Totally hypothetical...would you have Dyche back?
Prompted some nastiness this post. He also got us promoted out of the Championship in 1st place at the first time of asking and kept us afloat for six years.
We do need to restructure with youth and for that reason Dyche wouldn't be the man (he also wouldnt take it). But out of our available options to us now, if Dyche was an option hypothetically, he'd certainly be the most successful, proven candidate out there.

Best manager we’ve had in the last 50yrs!
But No, I think the trust would not be there anymore from both sides, and I don’t think he’d give us 100% commitment.
Let’s hope we get as Lucky with the next appointment, but the names mentioned fill me with Dread!

My real worry is that everyone is going "yeah, get some young players in, play some pretty football, get promoted eventually", like every single team on the planet isn't already trying to do the exact same thing. My worry is that we're idealising a name in the hope they'll bring us that success while disregarding a name who has actually done it for us. Twice. We won't offer it, and Dyche won't take it, so why bring Dyche's name into it? Well, this isn't to say 'bring in Dyche to manage Burnley'; it's to say please, for heaven's sake, moderate your expectations of what we're actually capable of from this position. The two teams promoted automatically from the championship this season have people worth hundreds of millions backing them. I do not feel as though this is going to be a smooth ride, and I'd favour results over style and "the project" at this stage.

This. I'd have taken a gutsy defensive 0-0 at 70 mins with pressure on Leeds knowing they HAD to win (rather than be better than losing) and the new going on to sxuff a goal off Barnsey's arseSpiral wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 11:28 pmMy real worry is that everyone is going "yeah, get some young players in, play some pretty football, get promoted eventually", like every single team on the planet isn't already trying to do the exact same thing. Re: Totally hypothetical...would you have Dyche back?
Irrelevant, but I would have preferred us not to have sacked him.
We got some points from some difficult games prior to his departure and we were on the cusp of facing teams of lesser quality.
I think that we got a bit lucky with the post Dyche bounce results, notching up wins from goals that resulted from chances that were unlikely to lead to goals and Pope playing fantastically well to prevent our opponents from scoring. Some of the tactical decisions in the last few games were completely bizarre, culminating in what we saw earlier today. I think Dyche could have easily notched up the same point tally, but we will never know.
However, I would prefer us to be down in the Championship with Dyche at the helm with a seasoned back room staff behind him. At the moment we have no manager, no backroom staff, no money, no clear playing identity, lots of players out of contract and only a few weeks until the new season starts.
No team has been in our position. The teams that have been relegated in the last few seasons have gone down without huge debts looming over them, they have had solid squads containing players on long contracts ( many of them young ) and every reason to expect a quick return to the PL. When all the bills have been paid I suspect we will be starting out from scratch in every possible way. Garlick got his big pay day, Pace got a Championship club for nothing ( if we survive in the Championship ) and the financial fruits resulting from 10 years of hard work have been liquefied.
The difference is that building a team capable of winning promotion on a shoe string is now a lot tougher.

No, we’d have even less players than we’re already set to have
Re: Totally hypothetical...would you have Dyche back?
Still, at least Jay signed a new contract which he wasn’t going to do under Dyche

Erm no. Wouldn't work now and wasn't working anyway.

For sure. He can rebuild where others cannot.

It’s a great opportunity to refresh and go again.

No the decision has been made, time to crack on and back the new manager. Look forwards not backwards.

My heart says No - time for a re-boot.
My head says: we need a steady head at the helm until the ALK situation plays itself out.

Not for me. It had gone stale for a while before he was given the boot and he has to take his share of the blame as performances just were not good enough for majority of the season under him.

Re: Totally hypothetical...would you have Dyche back?
If Dyche is indeed back at the Turf next season, I bet the club he's managing will have given him a decent budget to work with. I reckon he'll want a club that can give him the resources to get promotion and also be able to stay in the EPL without having to preform minor miracles every week.

No, it's time to reset and reinvent the club. Dyche is not the answer.
