Fan behaviour
After some of the awful scenes of the past week there's been much discussion about fans sharing a collective responsibility to police their own.
On my way out of the Bob Lord I witnessed a bloke trying to re-gain entry into the ground whilst the steward was refusing. I was still coming down the steps so I saw quite. A lot of an escalating incident. The guy was swearing at the steward and as was walking through the gate myself he started to approach the clearly intimidated young steward with some unpleasant hand gestures and fairly abhorrent language. He was abusing / bullying this young lad which is crossing a line and for his own good as well as the steward I intervened by saying 'come on mate, there's no need to swear at the poor bloke, he's just doing his job' - he continued hurling abuse at this young steward and I told him there was no place for his abusive language and basically stood some ground until he backed away. The bloke then harassed me all the way up Harry Potts Way, listing all the reasons he's a better supporter than me and again using his foul and abusive language.
This exchange ended with him effectively saying he was up for a fight around the corner.
I was on my own and we walked with the pace of the crowd so lots of people would have witnessed the whole thing yet nobody else said a thing. Actually, one bloke (might have been his mate) started cracking on with him and a female companion started chipping in and trying to make me out as the wrong un.
The fact nobody else said or did anything despite witnessing this was fairly disconcerting to say the least.
To the man that was responsible I hope once you calmed yourself down you've reflected on being a bit of a prat today. Questioning my passion is ridiculous. My passion for our Burnley FC family is what made me stamp out your poor behaviour in the first place. Do better.

Re: Fan behaviour
Why was he trying to gain re-entry into the ground? Had he forgotten something?

Re: Fan behaviour
Sorry you had that experience. Like any club, we have some serious knuckle draggers amongst us and unfortunately, booze (probable) and a relegation will bring out their inner dickhead.
Re: Fan behaviour
High probably said knuckle dragger is not a forum user…
Re: Fan behaviour
Sorry you experienced that. For me, it was a pensioner who was constantly goading the Geordies at every opportunity that wound me up. He eventually got removed, but it took the stewards long enough to do so.
On the plus side, no idiots on the pitch at the end.

Re: Fan behaviour
Apart from a few numpties trying to fight the police on the horses I didn’t see much poor behaviour.
However, if the police weren’t there I could see it getting quite bad.

Re: Fan behaviour
I was lucky enough to be in the corporate today and there were two tables of Newcastle fans in there. Great banter before, at half time and after the match they and we're genuinely top lads. They were totally gutted for us as they recognised us as as genuine, honest football team who have been fighting above our weight for years

There was an incident in the Bob Lord stand concourse shortly before kick off, at the Jimmy Mc end. A teenage lad ran past and up the steps to the stand, hotly pursued by Chris Gibson, the catering boss. Very soon after, Chris came down holding the lad, escorting him to the exit gate, where he detained him.
Speculating on the incident, I wondered if the lad had no ticket and saw an opportunity to run through the partially opened exit gate and get away with watching for nothing.
Well done Chris, you were after him like a police dog chasing an offender.

Re: Fan behaviour
We have some absolute muppet fans, although the mounted police didn't help.
I saw one elderly man walking with his granddaughter who were both run into by a horse; the police woman telling them to "get back". They were just walking down the bloody road! The 40 or so Newcastle fans hurling abuse between the coaches were left to it. Lancs Police really are shite.

Chris was busy yesterday then. There must have been some Newcastle fans in the corporate behind us in the Longside lower and a rumpus took place with some fans in front of one of them, Chris came out and calmed things, I think he asked the Newcastle fan to come inside behind the glass and watch the rest of the game from there.Bfc wrote: ↑Mon May 23, 2022 7:47 amThere was an incident in the Bob Lord stand concourse shortly before kick off, at the Jimmy Mc end. He probably p!sped off when we were two nil down, went up to the not so royal Dyche for a couple more scoops then decided to go back down to the Turf for the anticipated end of match shenanigans?fidelcastro wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 11:15 pmWhy was he trying to gain re-entry into the ground?
