Ben Mee
This club has been part of so many fantastic memories over the last 10 yrs. I was a man u fan before ben joined and I've never enjoyed football so much since.
The people of Burnley are so welcoming it's like a family.
Look forward to doing it again with you all.
This tweet from Mr Mee who I believe is Ben's uncle. Suggests maybe Ben is going nowhere?

Really hope this is a sign he’s staying. Would be a massive boost to our chances of an immediate return.
Re: Ben Mee
Ben alongside Nathan Collins would be a great 1st choice pairing in front of Hennessy assuming Poppey gets sold to pay debts

But it can't be true.....
We've no money for wages or signings
We're heading to league 1 with a points deduction
We're heading in to administration
We've no manager that wants to come
We've lost a cat 1 status(that we never properly had)
Times are so so bad surely Ben Mee can't sign

Re: Ben Mee
Just seen Boden reporting he is still to decide.

If you can get past all the ads and pop ups you will see that this just seems his interpretation of the video that he posted.
It must be really easy to be a journo to basically write an article that summarises a video with interpretation rather than trying to get the answer from the source to ensure the interpretation is correct.

Re: Ben Mee
Ben Mee renewing would massively increase my belief that we can bounce back. He's such a good defender and leader, and even at his age is as good a centreback as any. My all time favourite Burnley player.
Re: Ben Mee
He’d be crazy not to wait and see what else comes in. It would be massive if he stayed though.
Re: Ben Mee
True - just that it goes against him already having signed a deal as CT has been told.williamjblazkowicz wrote: ↑Wed May 25, 2022 8:07 amThat's stating the obvious though. For example, I understand Burnley are set to hire a new manager in the near future.
Though, wouldn’t be the first time Boden is behind on things.

Massive if true, keep Collins with him so he can continue to learn his trade, with Ben next to him to tutor / mentor him. Bobby Thomas as 3rd choice we’ll be defensively sound and if you do that you’re half way there to challenging.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue May 24, 2022 11:59 pmI was told about 2-3 weeks ago that a new deal had been agreed

I said he’d agreed one. It was from someone I think was reliable. Not sure now though, it was just before we announced the Jay Rod deal.

Re: Ben Mee
If Ben Mee does commit his future to Burnley that'll be a huge boost, him and Collins would be a formidable pairing in the Championship, and it's vital we retain his leadership on and off the pitch at this difficult time.

Didn't have the best of seasons, far from on his own there though.
I think he'd be very good in the Championship though and agree with the suggestion above that Roberts Collins Mee Taylor would have the look of a very good back four for that level.

Right, go on then, I'll say it.
I mentioned this on the 'strange things from Sunday' thread that I started.
I have thought better of to word it now.
I was so close to Taylor I could see into his eyes and he looked petrified.
I do hope nobody from the other side of the hill has got to him or his family in some way.
I just hope it was a loss in form.

I am a great fan of Pieters but would prefer to take a chance on youngsters as back up. One positive about relegation is that there is hopefully less risk in testing some out from time to timeAlargeClaret wrote: ↑Wed May 25, 2022 9:42 amHopefully Collins has kept under the radar . At what point in the team meeting before the game do you think Taylor got asked to mark Callum Wilson?randomclaret2 wrote: ↑Wed May 25, 2022 10:14 amWatch him for their second goal on Sunday Tony...shocking
It was shocking from Tarky who had Wilson right next to him but ran towards the ball leaving him all on his own right in front of goal.
After the Central defenders letting Villa score from such an was position they should have worked far harder to keep their shape.

Taylor seemed to be carrying a knock going as far back as the Watford game when he was moving like a carthorse. He’s usually one of our most athletic players. I wouldn’t be surprised is he was carrying an injury in the run in.

Interesting that Jackson did allude to several of the players willing to play through injuries in the run in when he was crediting the squad.

Re: Ben Mee
Certainly the way Taylor was ambling back towards Wilson was shocking, and ultimately decisive, he obviously didn't let him score but probably froze and didn’t see the danger despite having a clear view of it.
I’m not a fan of youngster backup though - look at Collins, a rolls royce in the making, done superbly, but he bottled it on Sunday as he will well know. That will take some getting back from and some never do (we’ll have to help him). Kids need developing gently.
Ultimately though we shouldn’t single out these because other factors on and off our own pitch came into play. We also can’t forget that compared to the Southampton win, after swapping Jay for Barnes, we effectively dropped Weghorst for Kevin Long. I don’t think I thought I would ever have written those words, not for a game of any magnitude let alone this. Long is plucky, but he isn’t one to bank on for survival.

Thats down to the management team, and I think they over thought it due to inexperience and the pressure
But without them, we'd never have got to the situation where we had it in our hands, but its a shame that they made the wrong calls when it really did matter
Hey ho, they will learn from this

Re: Ben Mee
Because Long and Collins were both tracking StMaximin and from where Tarks was looking the ball was into the player to his left (Longstaff possibly) who was unmarked. Had Tarks gone to Wilson it would have left Longstaff a clear run on goal from 12 yards out so he was absolutely right to deal with the immediate threat. Wilson is the player furthest to our left on the pitch, though fairly central due to the attack down our right, so i would expect Taylor to tuck in and track Wilson. Taylor is closer to Wilson than Tarks is. I don't think Tarks did anything wrong, unlike Taylor who threw the towel in.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Wed May 25, 2022 10:32 amAt what point in the team meeting before the game do you think Taylor got asked to mark Callum Wilson?
