No managers have experience when they start managing. I have already made that point. What is with people today?
Do you agree with claretmov that experience counts for nothing?

A house with 14 room's including six bedrooms and four bathrooms should be a hint for you

I was waiting for someone to wade in with the bickering comment. It’s called discussion mate. If you don’t like it then this probably isn’t the place for you.claretandy wrote: ↑Sun Jun 26, 2022 12:42 pmI see this tread has descended in to bickering again ..

We've just signed a highly respected and successful former top class Premier League player as our manager, and there are some already undermining his credentials.
Kompany has just signed the hottest property in League one last season and some are wondering if Twine has what it takes to step up to the next level.
Why can't we all just take in what our great club is trying to achieve instead of sucking the life out of every thread.

Not so many years ago we had the opportunity of signing a non-league striker but balked at the 1M fee. Regarded it as too much of a risk. I'm pretty certain Jamie Vardy would have done alright.

This has gotten a bit silly to be honest. Not sure if you’re referring to my posts but I haven’t undermined Kompany’s credentials and I haven’t questioned whether Twine can make the step up to the Championship.Juan Tanamera wrote: ↑Sun Jun 26, 2022 12:52 pmIt gets beyond tedious, doesn't it?

Better to ask the posters who brought him into the discussion. But it seems like it was to compare previous transfer activity with the current strategy, which is relevant but not entirely fair considering the totally different context in which we find ourselves.claretandy wrote: ↑Sun Jun 26, 2022 1:00 pmWhat has Dale Stephens got to do with summer 2022 transfer window ?

This twitter account (23k followers), that seems to be focused on Irish players only, is suggesting McNally to us is done and could be announced tomorrow.

So Ballard is off due to not being able to agree terms allegedly and now we're in for McNally? Didn't we have a bid turned down for £1.75m?

Or was it £1.5m? Can't keep up on this thread
Re: Summer 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Yea possibly, though all paper talk so hard to know exactly.
From reports I’d be very happy with McNally. Getting rave reviews for being a genuine ball playing centre half, yet also a very good defender.

I think the reports were that we’d had a bid of £1.5m turned down for McNally, with suggestions that Oxford were holding out for £1.75m.
Sounds like we’ve got him for £1.6m which seems a fair compromise. We’re certainly a lot faster at getting these deals done nowadays. I’m old enough to remember the days when we’d chase a player all summer having had 6 bids turned down.

Were just "in a better place" regarding unproven signings. It's easier to suggest a lower league player might be able to handle the championship standard, its totally different signing one to make their presence felt in the Premier League. In the prem we couldn't afford or attract a proven quality top league player or even say gone to Fulham then in the championship and use our clout to take a Mitrovic or Wilson off them. We were just stuck in the middle fiddling away.

The is a really good point - much easier to make signings and to take a risk in the Championship than the Premier League. Feels like the shackles are off to some extent and I like it that Pace and Kompany are looking for youth - it's risky but the right strategy given we've still got plenty of experience in the squad.s6t9a2f3f wrote: ↑Sun Jun 26, 2022 1:28 pmWere just "in a better place" regarding unproven signings. I'm wondering if we've already signed our second player, but the club are wanting to spread the announcements out over a few days.

I'd says it's very likely even though some on here want confirmation as the ink dries .
Certainly seems like we aren't quite the open book we used to be regarding transfers .......almost as if we used to trade in public .
Re: Summer 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I agree with this, I do think we need to add a real quality forward though and that will cost money. Skimping on £2m signings wont work in every position.taio wrote: ↑Sun Jun 26, 2022 1:35 pmThe is a really good point - much easier to make signings and to take a risk in the Championship than the Premier League. I'd sell Roberts in an absolute instance and look to do a permanent deal with Man United for Ethan Laird.

For me it’s all positive, if you listen to VK’s views on the chairman, board & staff is very good & coming from someone who appears to have a lot of knowledge around things that go on in football. He is glowing around the Burnley vibe & spirit, then you add to that good, young hungry players with a good back room staff with a smattering of proven prem players & things are really set for a strong challenge for promotion. Ultimately I would like to see more depth with a bit more pace up front with a playmaker in midfield.

Agree with this generally - we need a striker that gives us something different - although I'd keep Roberts and I've no idea about Laird! We know that the successful sides in the Championship have a 20+ goals striker. I'm not sure we've got that at the moment.

I think people love getting carried away, and a bit of realism isn't what they are looking for
