Good keeper for us at the time, better than Jensen, not as good as Heaton

Lee used to parry the ball straight out to strikers feet and watch as the ball went over him into the goal.

He was a good keeper but I don’t think we could have realised how much better we were getting when Tom replaced him. And then Nick Pope has come in and taken it on further. Two outstanding goalkeepers in the last nine years.

Consistently better than Jensen yes, but Jensen had two seasons for us that Grant never matched imo. Heaton and Pope have just been a joy to watch though.

I’d love to know which two seasons you are coming up with for Jensen. He had some outstanding games in 2008/09 - Reading & Arsenal standing out - but the following season in the Premier League he was shocking far too often.

Beast was great at shot-stopping, but he must have dipped his gloves in butter before games, because his catching was garbage.

LG was OK, but as said, surpassed by both Heaton and Pope.

Jensen was outstanding 2009/2009 and started very well in the premier league too. Grant was consistently better than Jensen as I've said above, but I never saw him put in a display that rivalled some of Jensen's in his pomp for us.

If you disagree then fair enough, but maybe you could practice what you preach and show a bit more tolerance for other peoples opinions?

Grant looked more consistent but there's no denying for an 18month period Jensen did the business. The best of Jensen was better than Grant, Kiraly and whoever else the beast had to fight off.

If he was lucky he’d parry it out. He used to get hands to loads that just broke through his soft wrists and went in.

I remember speaking to some Baggies fans at a concert in the summer of 2003 and they mentioned that we had signed The Beast. I asked what he was like and all they would say was "he is a big lad". Anything else? He is a big lad, you'll find out the rest when he plays for you. And I did at home to Palace in the blazing hot sunshine in August....

He had some very good games but we were never far away from his next clanger. We have been spoilt firstly with the best keeper i had ever seen in a Burnley shirt in Tom Heaton and then that was surpassed by Nick Pope.

Grant was a 6/10 keeper

Jensen sometimes was a 4/10 sometimes a 9/10

Pope and Heaton have both been amazingly consistent and we have been really spoilt over the years

The Beast will be forever remembered for that penalty save v Chelsea in the cup
A player for the big moments
He will be long remembered after Lee Grant is forgotten

I never rated Grant.
But I'd say 5/10 and Jensen 3/10 to 7/10 depending on which Jensen turned up.

He should still have saved that shot that was going wide at Watford though. Right, Ian?

Hello Fidel!

Def not mu cup of tea as a goalkeeper. A one match wonder, versus Aston Villa League Cup.
Better than Gabor though!

Jensen was gash for vast majority of his time with us, with his one season in the premier league being an embarrassment

He was to fat to get down to the corners and he couldn't read the game, he had a couple of decent games in our promotion push of 2008/9 but that was his lot.

Lee Grant was a far better goal keeper as his career after leaving Burnley proves it

Lee Grant's parry led to Ben Mee nearly having his head kicked off at Reading. I was stood behind the goal screaming "catch the f**kin thing" to which our right back at the time nodded his head whilst holding the post ready for the corner to come in

I was also at that game and my response was very similar. It was the game that I realised we had signed an absolute warrior in Ben Mee.

We have had two 10/10 supermodels with Heaton and Pope.

Whereas Grant and Jensen were like two Duke Bar toothless crack heads

Laws had a golden opportunity in the summer of 2010 to build on our earlier promotion success with the Premier League money and made some awful signings like Iluwemmo, Wallace and Grant who were nowhere near the standard to lead a promotion push. Even Dean Marney was pretty average for his first couple of seasons after signing that summer.

Grant was barely an improvement on Jensen for the first two seasons but then like Marney was excellent in the final year of his contract. Marney resigned for Dyche and more than made up for his slow start under Laws and Howe but Grant buggered off (no complaints we offered him reduced terms). So for me one good season out of three was poor especially as that first season was our real chance to get back into the Premier League.

No point comparing him to Jensen as Grant never got near to the levels that Jensen did to get us promoted and didn't offer anywhere near the service to the club as Jensen did

Party Grant. Very agile but glued to his line and seemed to have forgotten the part of goalkeeping which is to make sure when you save the ball it goes out to safety.

When the beast saved, it was both the ball and man who went into safety.
