West Brom signing John Swift

On a free. Going all in for Wallace and Lenihan too. Better move quick or all the good championship freebies will be gone.

That’s a negative of not having a manager in. If they pull all those off it’s very impressive. I’d have taken Swift here for sure.

Me too. Very disappointed we weren’t even in the running for a Championship proven attacking midfielder!

What player would come to a manager less club? Plus Who knows if Kompany would want him - though I think he’d suit his system.

Great signing for the Baggies, and if they add a few others they might be dark horses next season.

Vital we get Kompany appointed ASAP, and get active in the market, we can't afford to be caught asleep at the wheel while others are improving their squads, even more so with the early start date to the season.

I think pre season for most clubs is starting 20th June in the championship. Not long to get a manager and 6-8 signings through the door

If he's going to West Brom he can't be that good!

Too much dithering again we should have snapped him up in January

11 goals and 11 assists in a struggling Reading side would beg to differ, maybe one of those who's not quite PL quality, but a very good player at Championship standard, and an absolute steal on a free.

If you are expecting 6-8 new signings in by June 20 there is a 99% chance of you being disappointed

Believe that’s when we come back.

My thoughts Tiger.

I doubt either Swift or Wallace would feature much in a Prem side but both are proven Championship players and all I care about at the moment is getting promoted again.

I think both on frees would’ve been outstanding business.

I take your point. Not many players would join without knowing you’re in the managers plans.

Although I’m assuming we could’ve approached his agent, positioned that our scouts have identified him as a player we’d like to sign & play for a bit of time until a new manager is secured?

When you think how long we’ve had in this relegation situation we must’ve been considering it. I’d really hope we might be looking at players a level above Swift, Wallace in any event but to let quality free players slip through our fingers is frustrating.

What we could do is set up another thread, a bit like the “new signings/links” thread, only this one could be for all the players we HAVEN’T signed, and for everyone to vent their fury at the club for not doing so…. Give adeola Friday a run for its money that would.
