Blackburn bubble match
Are ‘bubble’ matches still a thing?
If so, do you think the Blackburn fixtures would be classified as such?

The way Lancs Police deal with the East Lancs Derby is an absolute disgrace.
I have no idea how they get away with it, and I would love to see it legally challenged.

We have just had more fans banned for fighting v Arsenal so that will surely mean the Blackburn games will be a pain in the backside forever.

Surprisingly they’re nowhere near the worst when it comes to football, West Midlands are unbelievable (all be it we’ve done ourselves no favours on this one)

Re: Blackburn bubble match
Happens at all clubs, including all the top clubs, nobody is treated like our clubs on Derby day. I say I won’t go every time but I bet I do
Re: Blackburn bubble match
Normal fans on both sides have a bit of crack etc, it is the young coked up,drunken numpties on both sides who think nothing of hitting anyone, throwing things at anyone, spitting in the face of anyone that causes issues.

Agreed, we certainly haven't helped ourselves in the West Midlands, SYP also deserve a mention for being equally poorBurnley1989 wrote: ↑Fri May 27, 2022 6:20 amSurprisingly they’re nowhere near the worst when it comes to football, West Midlands are unbelievable (all be it we’ve done ourselves no favours on this one)

Re: Blackburn bubble match
The night match for the Fa Cup replay, where they didn't have time to organise bubble travel was trouble free.
The last game we were allocated a time slot an hour before kick off for the coach. We missed kick off by a few minutes despite it only being a 15 minute journey.

Re: Blackburn bubble match
How many 'bubble' games are left now? Is it just us and Cardiff/Swansea? Embarrassing for Lancashire Police.
Re: Blackburn bubble match
The possibility of the potential for a playoff final has been raised on Twitter... imagine the meltdown...
Re: Blackburn bubble match
I certainly wouldn't trust 5/6 thousand of our fans to make their own way to Ewood without incident, but there has to be a better way than the busesNottsClaret wrote: ↑Fri May 27, 2022 8:44 amHow many 'bubble' games are left now? There has been a change of personnel both at the club, and Lancashire police, so maybe more ideas are on the table.
Re: Blackburn bubble match
Last time round I did a Freedom of Information request asking for copies of minutes, communications, emails, etc on which the decision was based. The police claimed that they didn't have anything. They did however claim the decision was made in agreement with supporters groups so for any of those who are currently involved I would keep an eye on that.
Re: Blackburn bubble match
I have never been to B'tardville for the match, owing to logistics. I have no issue with any football clubs fans and will be happy to sing and get sung at!

Several supporters groups, or their representatives, were asked at one meeting to come up with viable alternatives, at the time they couldn't, but that may have changedaggi wrote: ↑Fri May 27, 2022 9:38 amLast time round I did a Freedom of Information request asking for copies of minutes, communications, emails, etc on which the decision was based. Re: Blackburn bubble match
I went to some of these but will never do so ever again until it becomes like any other game. The penny dropped for me that the routine is not as much for fans safety but more to consider us all collectively as potential football houligans. Going to a match for me does not include being pushed, shouted at and scowled at by police officers when I am peacefully going about my business.
Re: Blackburn bubble match
Newcastle and Sunderland had to do it once but both clubs put their foot down and got it stopped.
Re: Blackburn bubble match
Get ready for a local Derby return of....
The coach convoy.
Pubs closed.
Horses, helicopters, barky dogs, spikey fencing.
Police telling you where you can and cannot walk
And a sunday noon kick off time.

Re: Blackburn bubble match
Absolute joke and I hope the club stand up to the Police this year.
I personally live in a small village just outside Darwen and for the game at Ewood, I have to drive to Burnley, get on a coach that virtually goes past my house, then after the game do the reverse again.
The Police need to wake up and realise that 99% of the supporters are going for the game and will have the banter, nothing else.
They also make the situation worse in my opinion as it’s like the old “a dog is really brave on a lead syndrome when being held back”. Take the helicoptered Police coach escorts away and I’m sure most visiting fans would just keep their heads down until inside the ground.

Re: Blackburn bubble match
It smacks of passing the buck, asking supporters to come up with a viable alternative. Surely the onus should be on the Lancashire Constabulary to understand how to effectively police a Derby game.
There are plenty of fierce rivalries that go ahead, outside of these bubbles. So, rather than asking a group of supporters, with no experience of policing, for a solution, how about learning from their colleagues in other forces, how they go about effectively policing a big game. Surely that’s better than resorting to the assumption that every attendee is a potential hooligan.
We seem to love solutions of the lowest common denominator, in this country. Treat everyone as a potential suspect, put a big tax on something rather than longer term thinking. It’s laziness and lacks thought.

There are some service members of Lancs police so inept if they worked elsewhere they would probably make the Dundee derby a bubble match

Re: Blackburn bubble match
So they shouldn't have asked opinions of those affected by the bubble? You're involved enough with this message board to know there are plenty of threads and posts about the issue, with lots of supporters having opinions, why not tap into that, it's no different from neighborhood policing meetings where residents are asked their views on the way the area is being policed, and asked for any ideas how it could be improved.DCWat wrote: ↑Fri May 27, 2022 1:07 pmIt smacks of passing the buck, asking supporters to come up with a viable alternative. Re: Blackburn bubble match
About time BFC told the police to do one and take no participation in the silly bus procession.
I for one won't be attending ever again until I can walk down Bolton Road and make my own way to Ewood Park

Re: Blackburn bubble match
The midweek game we took about 7 thousand with the potential for drinking in Blackburn all day and there was minimal bother.Nori1958 wrote: ↑Fri May 27, 2022 9:04 amI certainly wouldn't trust 5/6 thousand of our fans to make their own way to Ewood without incident, but there has to be a better way than the buses

I don't see any logic at all for reverting to "bubble" matches following that game.
Re: Blackburn bubble match
Depends on your definition of minimal
Yes, it wasn't as bad as it could have been, the owners of the pub at eanam wharf might disagree
Like I said, I don't agree with the buses, still doesn't mean I'd trust either set of fans to behave.

Re: Blackburn bubble match
As I’ve said, it’s not true. Two supporters group reps attended the meetings both at Ewood and the Turf. At no point in any of those meetings was there ever a request for alternatives, the decision had been made. There were some concessions but I’m afraid you have been given incorrect information by someone who wasn’t there.

Re: Blackburn bubble match
You just know that the police are just going to use the increase in football disorder more generally across the game as an excuse not to allow us to travel to this one normally
Re: Blackburn bubble match
As I said earlier, the meeting was at Parker Lane... It definitely took place, and the person who told me was definitely there ( I saw them go into the meeting),however that's where my first hand knowledge ends.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri May 27, 2022 4:11 pmAs I’ve said, it’s not true. Re: Blackburn bubble match
No meetings regarding bubble games were held there. They were all at Ewood or the Turf dependent on where the game was being played. Both clubs had two supporter reps there, Blackburn had two from a club run group, ours were from Burnley FC Supporters Groups.
Whatever meeting you saw someone going into was not for that and was not representing the supporters groups.

I wasn't saying it was a supporters rep I saw going in, it was the person who told me what had been discussed, sorry for the confusion
