US Open (golf)

Post by tiger76 » Thu Jun 16, 2022 1:16 pm

Among all the Saudi nonsense we do actually have a proper golf event taking place over the next few days.

Rory one of the favourites to lift the title, and he is in good form recently.

One story which caught my eye is Sean Jacklin making his major debut, and yes he is the son of one Tony Jacklin.

Solid 67 for Rory, and he's joined atop the leader board by the Englishman Callum Tarren among a few others, no I've never heard of him either, but he's got a great chance to make a mark this week now.

Hoping Rory can continue his form from last week and win this, will be a tough ask as the rough looks brutal and the field is strong.
As long as Justin Thomas doesn’t win, as I’m not a fan of him. (Ha plays great golf though).

Backed Matt Fitzpatrick and Justin Rose, both made a steady enough start. Be happy to see Rory win as well.

Is Fitzpatrick going to do it? He would be only the third player to win the US Open and US Amateur Open on the same course behind Jack Nicklaus and Judy Inkster.

I’m going to say he can just hold on. But bloody hell it’s tight

Amazing win. My heart sank when he went in the bunker, then what a recovery shot. Congrats to Matt Fitzpatrick.

Local lad, grew up yards from where I am now, cut his teeth at Hallamshire Golf Club where wind isn’t expected, it is guaranteed, which helped this week.

Really nice lad, nice family, really chuffed for him. This week he’s even hitting it further than his brother Alex does, and he’s huge.
