RATE THE REF - ALL TIME LEAGUE TABLE (since August 2007)
It's taken a bit of putting together, and no doubt there are a few errors....possibly even one or two omissions (please shout out if you spot anything), but here's an all-time table for every ref to have officiated a Burnley game since August 2007.
For reference, the first RTR game to feature was: Burnley 2-1 West Brom on the opening day in 2007. This game was refereed by Eddie Ilderton.
Thanks as always to everyone who contributes to the feature!

Darren Deadman isn’t bottom? Surely that’s an error?

He must have had his one good game out of a thousand recorded - but Drysdale is worthy of his bottom place.

Noticeable that dad Clive Oliver is ahead of son Michael.

In the unused opponents section could we attribute which competitions they have reffed us in? PL, Ch, FAC, LC?
Or maybe have their first season / latest season they reffed us - example 2011 / 2021
I appreciate the hard work you put into this, I’ll understand if it’s too much to ask - but keep up the good work

Don’t know whether it’s worthy of note, but Uriah Rennie is top of the list, having reffed a defeat. Can’t remember the game, but I do remember him as a ref, and the scores are excellent.
Coupled with our reputation for being a town with serious issues around race, I doubt scoring Rennie the highest will see those who want to believe we are all bigots change their outlook.

Ignoring the referees who've taken charge of a small number of our games then Dean and Atkinson are consistently the best.
No surprise there then.

If memory serves me right, it was a defeat away to PNE. I think we may have also had a player sent off (Carlisle). He was truly outstanding.bobinho wrote: ↑Sun Jun 19, 2022 9:49 amDon’t know whether it’s worthy of note, but Uriah Rennie is top of the list, having reffed a defeat. My thoughts turn to how next season’s RTR will look….very different, that’s for sure.

Home against Portsmouth on 10 December 2011 which we lost 0-1 with David Norris scoring in the 90th minute.

I can't remember that at all. What was so bad about him?

Neither can I. We had won the previous three matches, he cautioned two players, both from Pompey and Pompey were relegated at the end of the season.distortiondave wrote: ↑Mon Jun 20, 2022 1:39 pmI can't remember that at all. What was so bad about him?
He obviously was not a favourite of those who rate the ref, in spite of only ever doing the one match.
He only ever refereed 7 Championship matches between 2010/11 and 2012/13 and he returned to National Leaguein 2014/15. I am unsure whether he went on to become an Assistant Referee in the Football League from 2017/18 and was still active last season ---possibly.

Re: RATE THE REF - ALL TIME LEAGUE TABLE (since August 2007)
An excellent read and brilliantly compiled , John.
The two stand out Referees for me Mike Dean and Martin Atkinson are in the top 10.
The other 8 have only had 2 or 3 matches and probably none in the Premier League.

Neil Swarbrick and Dean Marney separated at birth...
Re: RATE THE REF - ALL TIME LEAGUE TABLE (since August 2007)
Remember Steve Tanner well - he was a good referee, Bristolian, calm head from memory. Can't be that old now but seems to have disappeared years ago.
I always rated Dean. Not everyone's cup of tea, but I always thought he was fair. He might make the odd mistake but generally he was solid.
