Weghorst. Never a Claret. Narcissis.
Really peed off with what I initially thought was a really good signing.
He did look good on the ball, held up well..but that was it
Ok not enough service to him but for £12 million should have finished better. Some woeful misses which would and should have kept us on the Prem.
Now this narcissistic prat thinks he is far too good to battle out the mess he is partly responsible for and hates BFC with a vengeance
Good riddance...don't want egotistic prats at the Turf.
Unforgivable his recents statements really.
So disappointed. Some may think I am over reacting, but that's the way I feel....and I'm sure VK would agree.

He was crap from day 1. Few good moments but jumps 5 foot 3 and can’t do anything in the box.

He was average, I expected more, but sometimes that’s the way it goes. I’d rather have rid asap tbh, not a Burnley player for me, heart of a pea.

Massively disappointing.
I believe KRBFC said he was one of his own suggestions... Looks like the football expert is losing his touch.

Despite what our resident football expert says. There was always questions regarding his character.
I'd be happy to see him go and hopefully we can claw back some of the money we spent on him in the process

Re: Weghorst. Never a Claret. Narcissis.
As soon as I figured out that he couldn't head the ball, and really struggled with finishing big chances, all the other stuff about tidy play and good football brain, was no real use to us in a desperate relegation scrap

In hindsight, one of the worst buys of our PL era in terms of cost per contribution.
Could be quite nifty on the ball on occasion, if the wind was right, but other than that he was completely impotent.

I liked the guy. Thought he was brilliant in his first few games. Dropping back to win the ball. Great control. Looked dangerous. Scores that goal v Villa and he’s a hero. Fine margins as a wise Ginger sage used to say!

Yep. I agree. Had Mings not made one of the best goal blocks of all time we stay up. However, dreadful in the air, poor finisher overall, and given his recent conduct / comments, it's good bye from me. Re: Weghorst. Never a Claret. Narcissis.
Yeah, we get it, the point is being laboured a bit now. He wasn't as good as some of his fans say nor was he quite as bad as some of his detractors think. The comments were silly, but in partial defence, Van Gaal has been very vocal about Netherlands players only being selected if playing at the highest level. As he's obviously fallen out with some of the lads in the squad, as Roberts notably made clear, we need to try and move him on. If no joy, well they need to all get round the table, he needs to start saying some apologies and get ready to fight in the Championship under a coach who won't take any ****.

A few good games, some poor ones
Re: Weghorst. Never a Claret. Narcissis.
Going back to the OP. What exactly has he said in his recent statements.
Re: Weghorst. Never a Claret. Narcissis.
His record in the German league was pretty decent from what I recall.
He scored quite a few goals too. Score recently for the Netherlands.
So don't think he is as bad as some make out and he started quite well for us but tailed off
and things didn't go his way. But he wasn't getting that much service.
If he has an agreement with Burnley that they would let him leave
if relegated then the only issue is for how much?
It's a pity in some ways because under a new manager and style of play
he might well have flourished in the Championship.
It doesn't seem as if VK is that bothered so it's best for
him to leave but only for a reasonable fee whatever that may be?
Hopefully we'd get most of our money back.

Re: Weghorst. Never a Claret. Narcissis.
We tried play him like we played with Chris Wood, and he struggled
But he had some good games, but something went badly wrong at Watford and we decided that Ashley "taken the p**s for three years" Barnes was a better bet
If he stays, and if he's as s**t as everyone says he is he's going nowhere, I hope he gives us another chance, and we give him another chance

Re: Weghorst. Never a Claret. Narcissis.
I think there is a footballer in there, however he joined a team who in essence just tw@ted it forward and we knew 9 times out of 10 it would invariably be defended and the opposition would gain possession, pass through our midfield and then attack, our brilliant defence though would get us out of trouble, I think it was a culture shock for him.

Re: Weghorst. Never a Claret. Narcissis.
It’ll be interesting to see if Nathan Collins gets the same pelters if he leaves.
Both played a similar amount of games last season, both cost a similar amount of money and presumably both would jump at the chance to further their careers elsewhere. The antipathy towards Weghorst appears to be that he’s had the courage to come out and say he wants out, although Collins recent comments in the Irish press were hardly a demonstration of his loyalty to the club.
For the record I don’t blame either of them for wanting to play at a higher level if they can get the move. I’d prefer Collins to stay of the two, but I just don’t get the outright anger towards Weghorst over anyone else who might be leaving. If you think the agents of several current players aren’t working their arses off behind the scenes to get them out, I think you’re incredibly naive.

That’s because Dyche signs players like Jutkiewiczs, Stephens and the likes.
Douche will be the perfect candidate for the Stoke job when it comes up.

Sean Dyche with our support ,earned Burnley FC North of £500m with out time in the Premier league and I for one find Anti Dyche comments offensive. The villans in our fall from grace were our directors, particularly our chairman who were intent on trousering the monies earned and leaving Sean with a pittance to spend. This is the reason for some of the signings Sean had to make.

Re: Weghorst. Never a Claret. Narcissis.
Weghorst has publicly stated he wants to play in a top division to enhance his chances of playing in what will probably be his only opportunity to play in a World Cup. IF we’ve got (and we probably have) other players privately authorising their agents to push for a move, I really see no difference. Being up front about it publicly makes you no less loyal than the player pushing privately.
I used the example of Collins because, like Weghorst, he’s not been with us long. If anything Collins has more cause for patience, because he doesn’t have a World Cup in November and he should have years ahead of him.
Again, I don’t blame any of the players for wanting to leave. It’s natural to want to play at the highest level. I just find Weghorst being singled out for wanting something that half out squad probably want a bit much.

Re: Weghorst. Never a Claret. Narcissis.
And not signing effective players within the system and not investing properly is a recipe for relegation.
I think the manager and the squad deserve a lot of praise for remaining as competitive as they did.
Ironically, to the outside world the club looked intent on shooting itself in the foot, sadly far too many in the fanbase want to criticise the best manager we've had since the 60s.

Re: Weghorst. Never a Claret. Narcissis.
Weghorst can do one ASAP for me, he disappeared when we really needed him to step up in our relegation battle, and I only hope we can manage to recoup most of our initial £12m outlay.
Yes no doubt there are others within the squad who are also looking for moves, but there's ways of going about your business, and speaking openly in public that you want out upon relegation is bound to trigger an adverse reaction from any clubs fanbase.

Re: Weghorst. Never a Claret. Narcissis.
I think the inference is that Dyche was unable to sign his own players, which caused the problems.
It's an interesting point given the recent pronouncements by Alan Pace about playing style and the fact that they did not buy players that looked suitable for the 4-4-2.
I think he got another 4 year contract because VSL/ALK misunderstood the precarious nature of football and just assumed Dyche could continue to perform miracles. They treated him almost like a corporate asset leveraging his reputation to give ballast to their ideas of a community club that could defy gravity.

He was clear himself that things started to turn in 2018 after European qualification. We had a shocking first half of that season but then hit our best ever form in terms of Premier League results between the end of December 2018 and April 2020. But then came the last two seasons.

Re: Weghorst. Never a Claret. Narcissis.
Personally I think the "antipathy towards Weghorst" is mainly because he was largely crap, rather than whatever he said in the press, but OK. Not really any comparison to Collins, who made a couple of big, costly errors but on the whole was one of our better players after coming into the side (due to injury, remember) whereas Weghorst was signed to score the goals to keep us up and didn't. Collins scored as many goals as Weghorst ffs.
There's also chatter Collins has a release clause which would take it out of our - and his - hands if someone triggers it. So not remotely the same.
On the 'how a player leaves' stuff I do think it's interesting how differently Tarkowski and Mee were/are viewed, despite essentially doing the same thing (I am assuming Mee was made an offer to stay). I'm not saying Mee should have played with a broken leg, but Tarkowski did play while not fully fit, played at Watford despite travelling back to see his sick kid etc etc - only difference was he made it clear he was leaving whereas Mee said nothing.
