Not so sure the rest of us are. I think we'll struggle if JRod and Barnes are our only strikers. We need a striker with pace and movement.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jul 07, 2022 7:58 pmWith the middle field players we have I am confident in our strikers Jay and Ash getting a bag full in the Championship and also we have Micheal Mellon to step up .

Agreed.
I wasn’t too disappointed that Muleka didn’t progress. I’m only basing my opinion on the available highlights; from those I thought that he looked OK and nothing more.
As for what we have, it’s been a long time since either Barnes or Rodriguez set the world on fire. It’s a level lower which should help but I certainly wouldn’t want to risk it with just those two and an untested, albeit well rated youngster.
On face value, the window looks OK so far. Dig a bit deeper though and it there’s a lot of work still to be done, especially when we look at who has gone and who may still go.
Striker(s), width, keeper and perhaps even improvements at full back would be high on my agenda.

Heard on good authority that fee has been agreed for O’Hare. Just personal terms to sort

Striker is now number priority in my view.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Striker, Winger, Midfielder, Goalkeeper is needed at the very least if no one leaves.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Interesting. I reckon personal terms would be relatively straight forward though if we’ve been chasing him with so many bids. I’d be very happy with this signing.Down_Rover wrote: ↑Thu Jul 07, 2022 8:41 pmHeard on good authority that fee has been agreed for O’Hare. Just personal terms to sort

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Not necessarily.
Currently in the creative midfield options we have Dwight, Cornet and JBG. One is made of glass. We've lost Lennon and we needed additions in this department before he left. Twine will probably play further up top.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Cornet likely anyway. Aside from that Twine could play off the main striker with O’Hare and McNeil in the inside 10 roles.

I would love this lad as long as we keep McNeil
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Order of priority for me
Goalkeeper
Striker
Holding Midfielder
Winger /Attacking Midfielder
Would be happy if that was all we did in the unlikely event we don't sell anyone else.

Although have just seen the Besiktas welcome photos and his hairline is heavily receding so I’m trying to convince myself that he’s actually 42!!

Reluctant to even say this but two links to Gustav Isaksen on twitter today (yes, one is BradJonesJourno!)… but this is exactly the type of player I’d like!
Now we’ve signed Bastien I’d say it’s much more important than another midfielder.

Not seen any links re incoming transfers/signings today, at a guess I'd say vk is taking stock having got the international players back on Monday, and working out what the priorities are now he's seen the new guys in action etc.

Barnes I'm not sure on.
Nobody will turn down a fast striker but I hope Kompany waits another week or so and takes stock of what he has first before buying anyone else.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
We need a striker and links are very quiet.
With VK stating he won’t harm his old club, I still think there is a strong chance we will end up with his main marksman from last season, Zirkzee leading the line.
As I understand he’s available at a good price and would make a good addition. Hes a Bayern not an anderlecht player too.
He won’t feature for Bayern next season so will be off somewhere, I have a sneaky feeling it will be us.

I doubt we could afford Zirkzee; he’d surely be 8 figures? We definitely need to bring a new striker in though.

When someone speaks of "8 figures" they are referring to an amount that is £10,000,000 (£10 million) or above.gandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Thu Jul 07, 2022 9:50 pmIf we can’t afford 8m on a player we may as well give up.
Similarly, a 7 figures amount is one that is £1,000,000 or above - but lower than £10,000,000.
Claret Alfie can, of course, clarify if that's what he meant by "8 figures."

I’d imagine Zirkzee would be near double that though. He’s only 21 and plays for Bayern Munich. I’d love for him to come, especially if he has a great season and takes Wout’s spot in the Dutch squad for the World Cup.gandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Thu Jul 07, 2022 9:50 pmIf we can’t afford 8m on a player we may as well give up.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I can’t see it at all. He’s more of a link striker and we’ve already got a few of them plus Twine if he plays that role. We need more of a line breaker with pace that will do the running in behind.

I’m well aware what 8 figures means. And I half expected some people to misunderstand my post and think I was getting confused between 8 figures and 8 million. I’m not. It’s been widely stated on here that he is available for 8m this summer. Like I say, we have spent nothing yet in terms of money coming in and money going out on players, so if we can’t afford an 8m signing then we may as well give up.Paul Waine wrote: ↑Thu Jul 07, 2022 10:00 pmWhen someone speaks of "8 figures" they are referring to an amount that is £10,000,000 (£10 million) or above.

Might be reading too much into this but seems ominous that we were quick to deliberately post a pic of Max at training but Roberts and Collins nowhere to be seen. Collins was in Ireland the other day. Think this might be the source of any more £££s we need for further transfers.

The complete opposite. The two advanced midfielders come narrow to allow the full backs to over lap in wide positions. One of the CMs then drops into defence to create a back 3.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Thu Jul 07, 2022 11:10 pmWould we play with the narrowest pitch we can if using that system?
