Cornet to Newcastle?

Sounds like they are keen but don’t want the pay the 17.5m clause in one go.

Therefore we are asking for 25m over a longer period.
Why only 25 million I wonder? 34 at least. Oil price is up and its peanuts to the Saudis.

I've read a few things about his attitude being way bigger than his ability
He was involved in 24 goals in 38 games last season under Kompany, with 16 goals and 8 assists his attitude must be massive   Kompany knows him that'll do for me

If there’s any rumour in this then we should jump all over it.

Sounds positive NC in terms of Benson, and significantly less money than O'Hare.Incidentally Vitinho played for us last night, so someone must have been very efficient at getting his work permit sorted

Take a loan out that's covered by Newcastles installments, and even with interest payments we end up with more than his release clause

If we get £25m for Cornet that would be fantastic business.

Assuming Benson would be Cornet’s replacement? I’d like to see a pacy striker in the mould of Andre Gray. Haven’t we been linked to some from Belgium? Can’t remember their names.

If it’s true (source has been pretty reliable this summer, although knew nothing of Vitinho/Dwight), then it’s a big blow for Coventry & the lad. They might wish they’d done the deal earlier.

Seems like the door might now be closed for good, or very close to being, on two players who've been linked very heavily all summer in O'Hare and Delap.

I'll be interested to see what happens next week as Kompany definitely hinted yesterday at a few situations. Benson might well be one of them. I'd better Google him.

Probably came to that conclusion following the interview last night, something along the lines of “just want a good season and then (oops shy smile) we’ll see what happens”. I thought watching it that he nearly said something that he shouldn’t. .

Julian Alvarez looked decent for City today after coming on as sub. With Haaland ahead of him though he probably needs a season on loan with a Championship club to get used to English football :)

If O'Hare is injured and we get Benson as a cheaper option then I trust Kompanys judgement after last night. And it will leave more cash available for a striker.

Sky Sports live broadcast, interviewed after the game with Josh Cullen, if I remember right… certainly on my recording from last night at some point, think its an interview at the end, where he’s having to think how does he end what he started to say. I remember it mainly because his expression tickled me at the time… and I thought much the same as the Chelsea fans have been suggesting… that he was about to let the cat out of the bag.

I did hear this earlier this afternoon and assumed it was likely due to his father's links with his old club, but hoped VK might trump that, especially after last night!

If I were City and having seen how we played last night I would be putting Delap on the first helicopter to Barnfield. Obviously we are nowhere near City standard but our style of play was very much the same as there’s. Brilliant experience for Delap working under Kompany

My Stoke supporting mate reckons he isn't. He says his Dad doesn't want him at Stoke, because their relationship could make it harder for him.
Don't know if it's true or not, just passing on his take.
He also thinks Dyche is being lined up to replace O'Neil.

Could t be a more suited club for Dyche to go too. Follow in the footsteps of his tactical doppelgänger Tony Pulis

Yes and I also think he needs to get back to work pretty sharpish... If Kompany is a success and gets us back into the Premier League playing football like we did yesterday, then Sean's stock will fall if he is still out of work and the myth blown open, that clubs like us have to play dour football to survive and thrive will change perspectives. He will become even more out of fashion with fans and chairmen.

Zero comparison between SD being pragmatic and keeping us in the PL so long and VK opening things up in the Championship. If VK takes us up then is the time to make comparisons.

Dyche was fantastic for our club.

He failed to adapt/evolve with the league/game and that subsequently cost him his job.

I believe he will evolve, and he will be a success again.

The man is a legend for Burnley football club, and he has indeed left a legacy behind, which many could only dream of doing.

Sorry for going off topic, but I firmly believe that this man deserves our utmost respect .

We'll see if Vincent Kompany achieves anywhere near what he did with this club.

Two promotions, a Championship title, two top 10 Premier League finishes.

It was stale at the end, granted, but have some respect.

Great post. The respect shown for Sean at the pub recently and in reality from the majority of fans is of the highest order. There’s been a few on here lacking respect amongst other things (like brains for example) right the way through his tenure at the club. Unfortunately it is a reflection of society tbh.

My Stoke supporting mate reckons he isn't. He says his Dad doesn't want him at Stoke, because their relationship could make it harder for him.
Don't know if it's true or not, just passing on his take.
He also thinks Dyche is being lined up to replace O'Neil.
Sorry for going off topic but I've also seen plenty of Stoke fans on social media wanting Dyche in.

I’d imagine in that Costelloe role from Saturday.
I’m struggling for a formation with this it’s so fluid!

A 2-4-3-1 is the best I can get.
🤣

Very highly rated, was excellent for Joey Barton’s Bristol Rovers.

Maybe this could be part of the Cornet deal?

There's talk up there of Anderson staying and being involved with their first team. He's been heavily involved in their friendlies and they think he's too good to loan out.
