Chelsea - unpaid tax ?
Report in Times today - they've marked it "exclusive" - that new owners have informed HMRC and FA that they uncovered some potential tax issues under Abramovich's regime during their due diligence. More than £100 million of purchase price held back while this is resolved. Report also says that Marina Gravoskaia will lose out on some of her £20 million bonus because of tax owed, though this isn't related to the other tax issues.

Why am I not surprised at this news. Fair does to the new owners for being open about it though.

Re: Chelsea - unpaid tax ?
Surley tax issues should mean a deduction of points for depriving schools and hosipitals of money !!!! a point for every £100 not paid
Re: Chelsea - unpaid tax ?
I can't reconcile unpaid taxes to a points deduction
But HMRC will investigate.
Also I cant reconcile how Manchester City can spend upwards of £90 million (assuming the Phillips deal goes through) on transfers without breaching FFP rules unless they sell or have sold players which I dont know about.
What I do think is that the game is ruined with all this money and I wish these oil soaked clubs had left our leagues and gone into a European league which I reckon woukd have been utterly boring.

any other club outside the top 6 PL clubs or Lodon clubs would have had points deducted or even relegation bit of course the PL will protect them.at all cost

Based on what info is available publicly, I can’t see this being a significant issue for Chelsea. The new owners notified HMRC during the due diligence process, and any outstanding liabilities will be settled for a fraction of what is potentially owed, which is probably the right course of action. These things are pretty common with tax, and we’ll probably never know the full details as HMRC isn’t transparent with settlements.
