Surprise surprise. Didn’t see that one coming.
Re: Everton legal threat dropped
Agree once Richarlison was sold we were in a difficult position. The shame is it will have cost the club a substantial amount in legal fees.

The difference was much more than £60m though. So there must be something else we don't know about
Re: Everton legal threat dropped
The Athletic have reported this isn't the case, Leeds have but we haven't yet.

According to the Athletic, Leeds have but not us.
Re: Everton legal threat dropped
I’m not sure how much pursuing this would cost. But I wonder whether, given that Leeds have dropped out of the case, we’ve decided it isn’t worth the financial risk going on our own?

Call me an old cynic if ya like, but i suspect Leeds lost interest in this palaver when they secured their PL status.

That’s probably right. Both Clubs would need to continue with Counsel's advice on each query that is raised and as such Counsels fees continue to rise. My own view for what it’s worth is that the Premier League are accepting a situation that suits their agenda, in other words they don’t want to be drawn into Litigation that makes them look bad.
Re: Everton legal threat dropped
Makes sense as Leeds didn't get relegated as we did.

Leeds had no choice, what damages did they intend to seek? The upset caused by nearly being relegated?

Re: Everton legal threat dropped
How will they have reached an agreement when Burnley is still pursuing the case?
And an agreement on what...? Everton are convinced the PL have approved their Covid explanation and the PL seem to agree.

Re: Everton legal threat dropped
For the same reason many reach a compromise agreement (Prince Andrew for example) whilst you know you are right and would probably win it’s easier, cheaper, less hassle and ends the matter straight away.ClaretPete001 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 3:58 pmHow will they have reached an agreement when Burnley is still pursuing the case?

Or BJ accepting the offer of an administrative financial penalty rather than having to worry about a criminal conviction and fine if he went to Court.

Re: Everton legal threat dropped
If we've reached an agreement, why haven't Norwich and Watford now joined in too as the other relagated teams?
My guess is we've just decided it's not worth the hassle, especially if the debt has been restructured, and sales have eased the financial pressues, we've just cut our losses.

You think Everton are going to settle a case when they have PL backing?Burnley Ace wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 4:03 pmFor the same reason many reach a compromise agreement (Prince Andrew for example) whilst you know you are right and would probably win it’s easier, cheaper, less hassle and ends the matter straight away.

How much is it going to cost Everton to turn up in court with the PLs letter of approval?
If anything, the club may have a case against the PL but not Everton.

Because even if Everton had suffered a points deduction those two would still have gone down.Andreshotboots wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 4:18 pmIf we've reached an agreement, why haven't Norwich and Watford now joined in too as the other relagated teams?

Re: Everton legal threat dropped
Leeds will have withdrawn because they didn't get relegated.
Re: Everton legal threat dropped
I’d be surprised if we get a penny off Everton.
Re: Everton legal threat dropped
Perhaps we have done a no win no fee .
Burnley's legal team may well have encouraged the club as we have a very strong case, however I think it will be against the premier league for notvenforcingbrules.
Could open a can of worms.
If it was the other way round the residents of self pity city and the media would be all over the injustices that have happened.
