Are you looking forward to hot weather?
Temperatures in the mid 30’s and possibly as high as 40 degrees. Are you looking forward to these temperatures or dreading the heat and the sleepless night?
Any tips to keeping the house and bedroom cool?

Re: Are you looking forward to hot weather?
Keep your windows open all through the night and shut them once the sun starts blazing. Sounds nuts but it'll keep the cool air in.
Hate too much heat. Actively avoid the sun. Only ever tanned my arms and that's just through wearing a tshirt when outside.
Bonus is, I look really good for my age

if this is to become the norm it surely wont be long until the UK and Europe start putting air conditioning in new builds

Just keep your bedroom curtains closed all day if the sun shines in.
I used to need a fan when I had the curtains open, but never needed one since.
Thanks to the cleaner in Spain.

Dreading it.
Sitting on a beach abroad with a drink, I can deal with it. Not so much when I'm sat at a desk for 8 hours

I’m in a new build, and every other house has had air con fitted on our estate. The insulation is so much better for the winter, but in the summer it’s terribly warm. We have a mobile air con unit for now, but we are going to get it fitted as soon as we can contract someone to do it - understandably they’re all booked up for months now.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Fri Jul 15, 2022 4:17 pmif this is to become the norm it surely wont be long until the UK and Europe start putting air conditioning in new builds

I think it would make sense to have it as an option indeed. Along with solar panels and batteries. Would make sense to have it all running for “free” using the sunlightVegas Claret wrote: ↑Fri Jul 15, 2022 4:29 pmit's surely got to become the norm for houses to be fitted with it going forward

We were in Spain a few years ago and we were walking along a street and there was a young woman eating a huge slice of cold water melon, as we drew alongside her we could see she was sans underwear & legs akimbo ... My Mrs said "I wonder if its cooler like that". The young women smiled at her and said "not really but it does keep the flies off my melon".BuryClaret wrote: ↑Fri Jul 15, 2022 4:19 pmDreading it.

Re: Are you looking forward to hot weather?
Love it. Although I appreciate it's no good for working.
But just remember, we'll be scraping ice off the windscreen in a few months.
And that's something I really dread.
Winter's awful.

Air conditioning units are not cheap to run. Last thing people need is additional energy bills.
Re: Are you looking forward to hot weather?
There was something on the radio earlier that some schools are closing !!!! FFS let's get real, some of us older Clarets went through a proper heatwave, no schools closed, if we are not careful we will have a generation of kids who when it snows won't go to work, now when it's hot they won't either, what next winds that ruffle hair and we close everything down.

Absolutely, bring it on. Love the sunshine,

Roll on winter, preferably snow but cold dark nights - can’t beat it!
