Super Six
Super Six reopened today for the 22/23 season with the first predictions for the Premier League opening weekend in a couple of weeks time.
We had a good league on here a couple of years ago but last season's league was deleted. Apologies if it is not allowed to he discussed but what was the reason for the league being cancelled?
If the same reason(s) no longer persist, would anyone be interested in joining a league?

Re: Super Six
I recall doing this 2 or 3 seasons ago and enjoyed participating so would join any new competition.
Odd thing is- I've got a feeling of deja vu reading this. I thought I saw a similar post earlier today/yesterday which made me dig out my Super Six link and password.

Re: Super Six
I dont recall that the one I was involved in had any gambling attached, nor does the OP here suggest there's money involved.
I presumed it was "just for fun" as per various other sports-related competitions on here.

Re: Super Six
The one Steve and I were trying to start up last season had no money involved either ... but the threads kept getting pulled by the powers that be ... So I pulled the plug Steve has set one up as per his post above

Re: Super Six
Super6 was great when it was just Saturdays (or weekend). It was a bit of fun within the family with a leaderboard and so on. Now it’s too much and I forgot to enter sometimes.
Then they started doing games outside the Premier League as well… also, my Mum and Mrs are both freakishly good at it so I don’t bother anymore.

Re: Super Six
I have absolutely no issues with anyone organising anything but the problem last year was people asking for money to join. Sadly, the same happened again yesterday.claretburns wrote: ↑Thu Jul 21, 2022 10:38 pmSuper Six reopened today for the 22/23 season with the first predictions for the Premier League opening weekend in a couple of weeks time.

I'd join, but I remember to do Super Six about twice per season.

Re: Super Six
Why do people come on here and make up such rubbish.
Devout?
Hierarchy?
Is this your attempt just to try and put people down. It has ABSOLUTELY nothing to with gambling…how can you say that when the website itself runs ‘Guess the Gate’ and ‘FPL’ prizes.
I’m the member of the ‘hierarchy’ who is very much against Burnley having gambling endorsements inside Turf Moor.
Did I delete your thread? No
Was I against you doing it? Absolutely not.
Do you remember the reason why the thread was pulled? Clearly you don’t and for that reason, even though I had nothing to do with it, I think you’re being VERY unfair the person/ people who decides to pull the thread.
Quite simply, you’ve just looked for an argument to fits your narrative. I mean seriously, come on.

Re: Super Six
Thank you for clarifying, Tony. No wonder there’s such an argumentative culture on here. If I recall, you even clearly outlined at the time why you didn’t want people to run the feature but people kept on going over the top of you.

Re: Super Six
Can I just add that there were attempts last year to have people pay for something using the Up the Clarets name and the same attempts have been made yesterday. Last year, one poster told me he thought he was joining something run by this site to help raise money for the foodbank.
As I've said, we run the Fantasy Football and First Goal Sweep on here to help raise money for the foodbank - for someone to use this board to promote something in the way it was done last year and yesterday is totally unacceptable.

Absolutely no need for those comments. In those threads last year, people were asking for money to join. Even this morning, I've had a poster placing his email address on here asking for people to contact him so they could pay to join something using this message board's name.Steve1956 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 22, 2022 8:25 amTo be fair I had a perfectly harmless super six game going for a season and a half no one asked for money and we had some good Banter....it was deleted along with another that asked for money....our thread didn't but that's another story...it was a bit of fun...you know enjoyment

Re: Super Six
"should iget my coat ? And join the list?" - what on earth is that supposed to mean?
What I said was that people were using this message board to try and organise a PAID Super Six competition. Even on this thread, this morning, someone has been doing just that. On your thread last year it was all over the place (not from yourself) but still there and the whole thing was becoming too much to try and moderate.
I'm trying to run the board for everyone's benefit although these days that's becoming more and more difficult. I'm not perfect, far from it, so I might not do things in the best way at times, but they are done with the best intentions.

Re: Super Six
ClaretTony and jdrobbo, thank you both for the explanations regarding previous Super Six threads that have been pulled.
So from what I gather neither of you or other mods are against a league being created and shared on here, so I have created a league and absolutely no money is needed to enter, it is a league for fun and to enjoy.
However I appreciate that people come onto these threads with their own private leagues asking for money to enter and this I understand can be an absolute pain to deal with.
So if we tentatively move forward with a league I have made and if the thread gets to much in terms of policing for inappropriate posts and proposals then it can be removed.

Re: Super Six
The OPs match prediction comp that was run last year was very good. Same again ? Think this is a different thing to ‘Super Six’. Not sure what that is.

Re: Super Six
Yes Boss Hogg, I shall be running the Burnley score predictor comp this season. I have made a couple of changes to last season's setup and just ironing out the details, keep an eye out over the weekend and I shall make a thread for predictions for the Huddersfield game next week.

Steve, I've just removed some of your posts because I deemed them unnecessary.
We've got a league now, there's no payment, and can we please just move on.

If you're wanting to do it as often as you can Tony, depending on the type of phone you have, if you do it via phone, you can amend the settings in your account to give you a notification 24 hours before kick off to remind you to place your predictions.

My problem is that I react to the alert if I can do it immediately but tend to forget if I can’t. I’m same with fantasy.claretburns wrote: ↑Fri Jul 22, 2022 10:38 amIf you're wanting to do it as often as you can Tony, depending on the type of phone you have, if you do it via phone, you can amend the settings in your account to give you a notification 24 hours before kick off to remind you to place your predictions.

Apologies for rattling your cage, JD. It wasn’t personal. I used hierarchy because the decision was obviously made at the top and I am not in a position to name a name. Through all last years shenanigans I never read that it was because somebody was trying to set up a gambling version, possibly because posts were being deleted so fast also I would not have joined. I was aware of the request to use UTC for a league and agree with that decision.jdrobbo wrote: ↑Fri Jul 22, 2022 8:13 amWhy do people come on here and make up such rubbish.

One positive about us being relegated is our games probably won’t feature as much and I won’t let my heart overrule my head with the predictions

My Mrs played for the first time last season and would always put Burnley to win and Blackburn to lose, even when we had City away she put 1-0 Burnley, I had no issues in predicting 5-0 City and at the end of the season she still had more points than me
