96-97 Away Shirt

Post by BFC123 » Fri Jul 22, 2022 7:16 am

Probably a bit of a long shot, but is there anyone who has the 96-97 away shirt in a small/medium that would be interested in either selling or trading for the same shirt in a large?

May be helpful if you give what chest size you are as these things shrink or get baggy over the years. So the original M might not be an M any more.

Just something I learned from buying used clothing online!

Wasn't that yellow shirt from 1997/98 - I think the 96/97 away shirt was the white one with the three blue stripes from the top

Do you have pit to pit sizes at all?

I'd give you £125 for it. Providing it fits...

I have that yellow one in large in a box of old shirts at home. Thought it looked good in the newspaper when it was launched so I bought it, but in real life it was a terrible fit. Really baggy as somebody else said. So I still have a large at home in mint condition. Might make me a few quid one day, unless my all inclusive holiday next week helps me fit into it!!

The Yellow one was from the Waddle season. Can remember him wearing it - along with Paterson in the “signing pic”

23.5/24 inches. As someone mentioned above, the size fits big, so would be comparable to at least an XL in modern shirts.

Can't be the other way round, that's Nogan and he left during 1996/97.

Wasn't this the first time we had a 3rd kit? Pretty sure its something like that as i had both. We had the home quarters one for 2 seasons. I'm sure we wore the yellow at anfield in the cup which wasn't long before Nogan left.

CT is right. The white was 96/97 and the yellow was 97/98.

Just looked on the link above and there’s quite a few mistakes on it.

Third kits were quite regular for us prior to this in the Spall, Ellgren and Ribero days. The Anfield game in the FA cup, we wore the white kit. That was retired at the end of the 96/97 season and the yellow one replaced it for the following campaign.

Sorry for the late reply, would be far too big for me.

Just picked up a medium from eBay for £60! It had just been listed.
