BURNLEY 1882. New Team. New Brand.
Just a pondering thought and just wondered if everyone was OK with our historic BURNLEY FC brand.
I was just thinking BURNLEY 1882 as the new club brand would be good and different from the rest of the
Leagues.
Anyone else have any other alternate club name or are you happy with Burnley Football Club.
Just a bit of fun really......just saying........

Rather just forget the entire history of the club and start a new team called Burnley 2022.

Please don't.
It was bad enough yesterday, when someone showed me a Burnley Tee shirt in stars and stripes style.

What a good idea. I'd strongly agree with bringing the historic element to te attention of the masses. Many, many people have no idea of our rich heritage - especially young children. I'm proud of this and feel it would help our 'little club'.

Re: BURNLEY 1882. New Team. New Brand.
What a load of twaddle!
IF anyone is interested the 'founded in 1882' factoid is surely something to be found in the first paragraph of the Club History or Background chapter?
Sure, in my day, we had football annuals, etc., and you read them until you knew them off by heart, or, like Ripping Yarns, your dad thrashed such basics into you by rote (ah, thoughts of the wonderful 'Golden' Gordon Ottershaw and Barnstoneworth United ... Haggerty, F., Ferris, Noble..... (before he signed for us), Codren, Crapper, Davis..... ).
But that so many think that football started with the advent of the Premier League in 1992/1993 and have not even rudimentary knowledge of football history is their problem not ours.
Our (unchanged) name is part of our illustrious history, and long may it stay that way!
You'll want to call the Bee Hole End after one of our greats or something equally new-fangled next!
I give you the Claret Bowl! (TM slidingtackle). How about that for a stadium name? None of this Turf Moor nonsense!!

Re: BURNLEY 1882. New Team. New Brand.
Accrington Stanley went bust and didn't finish the season in 1962. A new team was formed 6 years later. They had to use the name "Accrington Stanley 1968" to show that they weren't the old team returning.
Any team name with a date in it risks being called the "old timers" or "out of date" - or the "boomers."
Burnley Football Club has a great ring to it, even in the age of social media, tik tok and instagram (whatever those things are).

Nah, you're all right. I like that it's just Burnley Football Club. Nothing else.
Although not uncommon for German teams to have a year in their name. Schalke 04, 1860 Munchen...
Now, if we're talking brand... that begins with the badge...

Re: BURNLEY 1882. New Team. New Brand.
1882 was used as a clothing brand for a while by Burnley in the 90’s.
I’m sure Burnley Bulldogs would go down a storm in the media… the National Front newspaper was The Bulldog

Re: BURNLEY 1882. New Team. New Brand.
Has The Bulls ever been used as a nickname considering the club was founded in The Bull Hotel?

I didn't imagine the name would be changed, just the 'brand' as the OP alluded to. Good grief - there are so many on this board who are ready to come out with fists flying.................get a life and GET REAL - LUDDITES.

It's called a debate and involves banter. I am well aware there are @@@@wits on here whose only job is to be a full-time keyboard warrior but this thread is completely benign and no one (except you?) has come out with fists flying.
Ho-hum!!!
Hopefully, once the football returns we will have something less controversial to talk about.......

Mmh - you have a strange interpretation of my post? I was just replying to the usual onslaught of rubbish posted by folk with nothing better to do than to attempt to decry and make feeble 'jokes' for any post. I thought the OP made a credible point, which could be expanded upon. It probably won't be, but it could be some avenue to create more interest especially for youngsters, who regard BFC as WHO?SlidingTackle wrote: ↑Sat Jul 23, 2022 2:13 pmEh?

I note you mention 'banter' - in my days that was fun conversation - oft used nowadays to justify bullying in my view. Ho-hum indeed.

If we’re serious about people knowing who we are and where we’re from them the team name should be Burnley 1882 Harry Potts Way BB10 4BX
