Goalkeeper….

Post by CoolClaret » Sun Jul 24, 2022 4:41 pm

We have been blessed to have Messrs Heaton & Pope play for us over the past 10 years or so…

I’m really hoping that Muric is even half as good as them boys and stays fit because I can’t bear to witness BPF in net.

Some of them attempts at saves he made… I mean, even for a friendly were absolutely horrific

Save us please Ano

The first two goals should have been saved but more for me the defending on a lot of the goals was hopeless.

Not good viewing especially with no goalkeeper and Matt Ritchie and Jacob Murphy running past us.

I am hoping the training had been so tough that they were knackered. It looked like a lot could not be arsed

It isn't the goalkeeper that worries me, it's the back four.

outclassed, i'd say. But we did have a mixed team including some U23s against a strong Arab team.
However, that goalkeeping display was poor, maybe a few got dispirited after the first 2 went in.

I feel that but they were the kids/backup backups I believe playing in that game.

I think most of that team was the u23 with only Cork from the “first team”

This is the problem when all out centre halves are young and inexperienced. There is no one to guide them through games. I think our inexperience at the back will be our downfall. Bringing in youth is refreshing but the refusal to replace Mee and Tarks with 1 centre half who has some experience at championship level is poor.

Didn't seem to be any defending leaving the goalkeepers exposed

Have you ever seen a headed goal from that angle?
Perhaps if the keeper had fallen over, but he was on the post.
I've been very supportive of the lad but that goal was a shocker.

Only just watched the vid. Humiliating. We looked like we had just got home after a long night out !!! Assume BPF played first half and Muric the second. Both were shocking

First two were shocking attempts at saves. The whole nine were dreadful defending.

I’m hoping our defenders aren’t going to have nearly as much to do this season so I’m more concerned with strengthening attack, if Cornet leaves.

Wrong

Muric conceded a grand total of 1 goal

There were 2 games going on at the same time on different pitches, with the Newcastle team changing pitches at half time

Technically there were 4 45min games

Time for VK to get his boots back on. As he did at Anderlecht.

It's really not difficult identifying Muric. He's the big tall one who conceded one goal yesterday. It's quite clear on the clips.
Nothing on those clips to suggest Muric is shocking. We'll see of course!

BPF and Norris should never play for Burnley again because every match they have played in the first team has been a disaster.

Against Newcastle the defensive play looked shocking for the goals as well , but I think we have forgotten, the only proper friendly we played at Shrewsbury was far mor encouraging for the ‘new team’ .

It was just a training session, hopefully Kompany will have learnt what he needed to know.

Don't be so dramatic! BPF is an international keeper and will be fine. Not sure why you've also mentioned Norris! :?: :?:

Kevin Kilbane, who played at the highest level, talking about how highly he rated Muric and how he once played a one-two around an opposing player.

Then we get 'joey13' from the internet showing us he isn't interested in our new signing's history.

Who should we listen to?

Refusal?

We’ve bid for the Metz CH, and are still regularly linked with CH’s.

Less hyperbole, more patience.

Don't see why not. We could easily end up with him on the bench on occasions, and then he's only an injury or red card away from ending up on the pitch.

He was talking about a 16 year old , that 16 year old is now 23 , relevant, I think not .

One thing you HAVE to get right if you're a passing team is the quality of the distribution from the cbs or gk into midfield and attack. Some clear examples here of playing forwards into dangerous areas and we get broke on. Only preseason though and these games are supposed to be used to develop this.

Keeper was very poor, but some of the defending in front of him was bloody awful too.

In the video I believe I picked out Harwood-Bellis, Egan-Riley, Taylor, Lowton, McNally, Maatsen, Cork, Brownhill, McNeil, Bastien.

Kevin Long and Roberts but I'm less sure about having identified them.

I might have got onenor two wrong but it most definitely wasn't just Jack Cork and the youth squad.
