Alan Pace Interview - Up on BFC.com now
What's your thoughts?
Re: Alan Pace Interview - Up on BFC.com now
Very interesting interview and surprisingly honest about things.
One thing that stuck out like a sore thumb was the first part: it's gonna be nice to watch a team going out to win rather than not losing. I guess that's a bit easier being in The Championship though!

Reiterates developmental desire of the club. Doesn't cover player sales, debt payments, future signings, expectations for the season... unless there's a part 2. Seemed to be various clips cut together, so there may be more to come.

How to talk for seven minutes without saying anything of substance.
Pace has refused to talk to local or national media and answer real questions - he prefers in-house soft-ball interviews like this about "exciting new eras" rather than deal with any proper questions.

Yeah, it felt like that start of what could have been a very good interview had those questions been asked (and answered).dandeclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jul 29, 2022 12:43 pmReiterates developmental desire of the club. As dande says, nothing covering the real issues at the moment facing our club and that's what we're all interested at the moment.

I wonder how the interview will be seen if we pick up three points tonite with a positive, dominating performance?

Correct, because they're business driven for the most part and there is 0 to be gained by divulging sensitive financial information to fans - whether good or bad. I'd be more worried if he was giving an interview going into the inner workings of the debt and buyout to be honest.PremierLeagueClass wrote: ↑Fri Jul 29, 2022 12:55 pmYou never get anything from the vast majority of owners.

An as expected puff piece interview with gently lobbed soft ball questions. Though in fairness to AP , there’s not a lot more he was gonna say bar the usual platitudes . I personally hope he succeeds here financially ,as in turn we too would very likely succeed .

But certainly a little more substance than the stream of buzzwords and verbage he produced in that seven minutes

Very predictable by Pace. The usual ‘ nothing to see here’

Nothing wrong with what Pace has said, he's just said nothing. He talked about developing players but said nothing about the downgrading of the academy. If he was being interviewed, questions like that would be asked.

He loves selfies with uncritical fans thats for sure. He said this week at Burnley College that he prefers to 'meet fans in Tesco' to doing a press interview.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jul 29, 2022 1:40 pmMan United are owned by the Glaziers, who never talk to the media about how they are massively ripping off that club, and there is nothing anyone can do about it

Fair point about the Glazers - but they have been distant from day one. Pace was all over the media when he took over - couldn't keep him out of the papers or off the telly when the story was "American investors seek to use artificial intelligence to recruit global talent' etc etc. As soon as the stories were about the loan and leveraged buyout came along - well, then a selfie in Tesco was the preferred option.
Re: Alan Pace Interview - Up on BFC.com now
I personally thought that was a good interview. Lots of positives and progress being made by the sounds of it and most importantly the club seems to have a strategy that everyone at the club seems to be on board with. He mentioned the importance of the various 'processes' that need to be in place at a football club and successful people always focus on the process instead of the outcome goals which I also think is good to hear.
However, time will tell if this translates into success on the pitch and I still feel that we are 3 quality signings too light at centre half, up front and on the wings.......but that's just my opinion.

They asked often about the ownership by the media?
Not sure about that
Point is that he's fronting up, you might not like the answers (or lack of them) but he doesn't have to anything like that

Thing is, only the terminally bewildered thought that we weren't getting absolutely screwed in some way
We couldn't continue with what was going on, and we at least know now where we are
Am I happy about it?
No
Do I think there is any point in having a go at the new owner for everything he does?
No
I hate the phrase and hate using it, but it is what it is, and we will see what happens

Re: Alan Pace Interview - Up on BFC.com now
How many football chairmen are regularly interviewed by the media?
Garlick certainly wasn’t. In fact you’d barely get an annual interview with him with the in-house team.
Looking across the rest of football in this country, it’s pretty rare. I can only think of the two blokes at Palace & Peterborough who don’t shy away from it.

Re: Alan Pace Interview - Up on BFC.com now
Thought he missed a real chance with his in-house interviewer to arrange for questions to be asked about player sales, the academy and the administrative problems (e.g. getting through to the ticket office).
He could then answer in a pre prepared way that could reassure supporters that it is all part of a process and / or a temporary hiccup.
But we also don’t know the degree to which hands are now tied - either contractually (e.g. talking about a sale) or financially (e.g. being able to afford a Cat 1 academy now). He may not have felt able to say more than he did.

Re: Alan Pace Interview - Up on BFC.com now
You're trolling with this everything ALK does is brilliant act, you're just making excuses for ALK to troll by appearing controversial. You used to be a pretty sensible poster too, not sure what sparked this.
Re: Alan Pace Interview - Up on BFC.com now
Sorry you’ve lost me. Me commenting saying it’s a good interview and well done for doing it (majority of owners you never ever hear from, Garlick never did a video interview) is ‘controversial’?
Re: Alan Pace Interview - Up on BFC.com now
You're on every thread acting like Alan Pace himself. I now believe you're trolling

Re: Alan Pace Interview - Up on BFC.com now
Just watched it. We can't change the questions he was asked and tbh I wouldn't expect him to answer anything of a financial nature anyway. No owners are required to give that information and I can't think of any that have.
Sounds to me like he also got bored of watching us trying to scrape enough points to stay up and the shitty football on show. I'm in the boat of completely reserving judgement on the entire club at this point and I'm just looking forward to what will hopefully be a decent season.

Dunno, seems the expectation of some posters is that he should have addressed the takeover and the debt. Never gonna happen in a pre-season puff piece made for social platforms. And unlikely to happen in any other forum either. Owners just don't do that.
