I can’t believe how much time and space we have on the ball.

Barnes has been good, possibly could have got his shot off quicker when put through, but whether he meant it or not that assist should give him a boost.

Huddersfield look like they could be beaten by any team / style tonight. Their manager f*'d off and quit at the start of preseason because he thought it was too much of a challenge to go again with this team.
Enough to dent the confidence and belief of any side.

That being said we have played some really really good stuff, I know we have all the time in the world and Udders don't look interested but we are still playing beautifully.

You can only beat what's in front of you.. UTC!

Brilliant back up but we need a new first choice striker badly and hopefully O'Hare in for the wide role

Still if he gets half a sight of goal I always fancy him to get a good shot away and the way we're playing I can def see him scoring tonight

Fully deserved victory, never seen us dominate a game so much

Barnes also did very well in the second half. Must have found it strange to touch so many balls on the floor.

Did well. Definitely need an out and out 9 to be a killer but he’s an intelligent enough player to play this style.

Did better than I thought he would, but you can see his limitations in the system a mile away

But he did look a lot more like the old Barnes, but I think his job will be more for his experience from the bench when we fill out the squad

he is a very good player. too much is made of his dark arts, but the reality is he has a touch of class. A firm favourite of numerous Burnley fans, and with good reason.

He put in a Huge Shift.

Not sure about the Pen? Probably was with VAR?

I think he'll play a big part at least until Jay is back or another signing.
Even then he would be an asset from the bench - minimum.

I thought he worked hard without ever looking a goal threat. Still believe we need a striker from somewhere.

Agreed. We’re going to need a different option to Barnes. He doesn’t quite have the movement or pace we’re going to need at times. Jay Rod might offer more of the former, but he struggles to stay fit for prolonged spells.

Don’t think anyone has slagged him off. Just questioning whether he suits the new system. By the end of August we’ll find out whether VK sees him as the answer to playing there.

I’ve always liked Barnes and thought he did well last night, but if we’re going to have a lot of possession in the opposition final third and have to break a 10-man defence, I’m just not sure he’s the right fit. More than happy to be proven wrong.

No pace as we know but I think Weghorst would have thrived last night in a team set up to play ball to feet. He made his decision to leave but a certain irony that our style of football has changed so quickly after he did.

Biggest **** houser known to man. Don’t know if the cameras picked it up in the second half, there was a stoppage and he was being nicey nicey with a Huddersfield player whilst he was sharing his drink, when he’d had some he whipped the ball away from him and took it about 50 yards away 😀😀

Yeah has a role to play as a bit part player in what will very much be more of a squad approach this season. Give your head a serious wobble if you think he’s a regular starter. We need a couple of young forwards, can only assume that’s where attention is turning next if there’s still 4-5 players to come in.

I thought it was perfect symbolism that opening goal of the Kompany era came from Ashley Barnes tripping up over the ball and a young Dutch debutant curling into the bottom corner.

As they say in cricket look in the book, it'll still go down as an assist for Barnes fluke or not.

Will Ash be a regular starter doubt it, especially if as expected we sign another forward, but he and Jay will play an important role over the course of the season.

Thats because he wasn't fit for much of last season. Did a good job last night. I just thought though, when he was through and didn't get his shot away, Barnes of three years ago would have scored.

absolutely, a pacey striker last night and the score would have reflected the dominance

I'm not a Barnes fan, but I thought he'd be very useful at this level

I've been really disappointed so far.
A nice flick today, but other than that I can't tell you anything of note other than falling over and shouting at the ref

Someone needs to tell him our style has changed, and that he'd be better off trying to actually win the ball, rather than trying to nullify the game by "winning" cheap free kicks

We need two better strikers who can play in this system. Barnes technique was poor today, he needs replacing.

Had a stinker today after a poor display last week.

He cannot lead the line, has to be 3rd choice at best.

The most anti football player we have trying to fit into a footballing side, it's painful to watch him

Without seeing todays performance, just short highlights on sky.
Looks to have reached that old striker stage where nothing will go in for him.
