Muric 7 - Solid. A mixed bag distribution wise.
Roberts 8 - Good on the ball. He gives the wide man too much space to run into, but can get away with it in the championship.
THB 8 - Really mature performance. Didn't expect it.
Taylor 9 - Great display. His passing into midfield was superb.
Maatsen 9* - You could tell from minute 1, his technical ability is unreal. Touch, passing, speed, and even the finish.
Cork 7 - Some good bits of play today, maybe won't be able to get 46 games out of him.
Cullen 9 - Captain material.
Brownhill 8 - Will be excellent at this level. Covered ground and will excel technically with more space.
Costello 5 - Bit too soon, due to the McNeil sale. Raw but clearly has potential, good with both feet.
Bastien 6 - Some great bits of play, touch looked a bit off.
Barnes 6 - Was a bit of a square peg in a round hole but did really well in the last 10.
Twine 7 - His touch was excellent. FK also.

Might be the beers but I think that’s the best performance I have seen from a Burnley team.

Muric 9 - if that is his standard performance we have a top top keeper on our hands
Maatsen 10 - best player on pitch
Bellis - 8 had a quiet game purely down to how well we played
Taylor 8 similar to Bellis
Roberts 7 thought he was good but struggled with his final ball
Cullen 10 - best CM performance since Defour
Cork 8 composed
Brownhill 8 composed (probably his best game for us IMO)
Costelloe 8 very raw but there is talent there
Bastien 7 thought he was slightly quiet but looked composed every time he touched it
Barnes 7 held the ball up well but struggled with his touch and passing.

Very impressed. A flawless performance

Special shout to Twine and Vitinho who helped us regain momentum in the second half. Twine unlucky with the free kick and both of them had some excellent touches. Look forward to seeing more of both.

Hard not to be really excited by that.

Surprised at the OP’s 6 for Harwood-Bellis. Positional play spot on, and if we’re still thinking about a captain…..

Muric 7 - excellent touch and very composed on the ball, if not always rhe most accurate which may cost us.no idea what he's like at shot saving/claiming crosses or one on one's yet but a v good start.
Roberts 7 - thought he did OK but got caught under the ball a couple of times in the second half in particular. Fortunately Huddersfield couldn't take advantage.
Harwood-Bells 7 - looked really solid this evening and composed on the ball. He will have much sterner tests than this evening though.
Taylor 7 - very solid performance and perhaps a position he could grow into. Not sure how there weren't a few yellows brandished out for 'challenges' on him from Huddersfield in the second half... Maatsen 8* - looks an excellent player. Great touch and engine. Final ball could have been better at times but if he can carry on like that we have a player.
Cullen 8 - looks to have a great engine, knows when to slow it down and when to play the quick pass.
Cork 8 - he and Cullen are similar but could be excellent together in this setup. His usual neat and tidy self and covered ground really well. He must have been injured late last Autumn when he was really struggling.
Coatelloe 7 - a really strong first performance. Full of energy and broadly neat and tidy with the ball, just chose the wrong decision on a couple.of occasions. Look forward to seeing more of him this season.
Bastien 7 - great energy, and tidy enough.
Brownhill 7 - another who showed great energy and was neat and tidy on the ball, though his end product could maybe have been stronger.
Barnes 7 - led the line well without being a real goal threat.

Well overall that was a very enjoyable performance. We were completely and utterly dominant and the high press in particular really impressed me, along with the excellent mkvement. However, I'm not sure we will play many teams who put in as poor a performance as Huddersfield did tonight and we really should have put them to the sword.

On the whole though a cracking start to VKs tenure and if we play with that amount of energy and fluidity moving forwards then there's a lot to be excited about. Particularly if we can further strenghen over the next couple of weeks.

9 posters gave him 7 points so only 1 more than I gave so yes I thought he was average, as one poster said he didn't have a lot to do. theres a good player there though to be sure.

From the telly

Muric 7 - nothing to do, extra point for footwork
Roberts 7
Maatsen 9*
Taylor 8 - experience was telling
Harwood-Bellis 7
Brownhill 8
Cork 8
Cullen 9
Bastien 7
Costelloe 6 - did fine, needs to build from a positive debut
Barnes 7 - looked shattered towards the end, we need more options

What a great performance, I’m literally grinning from ear to ear

Muric 7- Some outstanding passes, a couple of dodgy ones but no idea if he can save a shot.
Roberts 6- Thought he did okay but still backs off too much and final ball a little iffy. Hope he can improve.
Belis- 7 No real problems at the back.
Taylor- 7 ditto.
Maatsen- 9 This lad looks unbelievable. Doesn't look like he'll hold his position but I don't care if he plays like that.

Cork- 8 Looked very comfortable.
Cullen- 9 I loved how his first touch was generally always positive, opened the ball out and allowed him to keep the game ticking, very good debut.
Brownhill- 8 Will run all over this division and looks a far better player in this system.
Bastien- 7 Looked tidy but I felt like he was playing at 90 percent today. Think there will be more to come from him.
Costelloe- 6 Had a decent game and looked promising, missing the chance looked to affect him but hopefully he just gets his head down and one will go in.
Barnes- 7 Should have had a penalty but should have probably also taken it earlier. +1 for an assist.
Twine- 7 Would have loved his free kick to go in.
Vitinho- 7 not on long but looked good.

Hudds were very very poor today so I'm still interested to see how we get on against a side that turn up. That being said if we can play like that first 45 mins then we will steam roll this league. A very very good start.

Everyone 8/9 - can't see what anybody did wrong for a first game of the season!
Kompany 10 - set us up perfectly with the players we had at our disposal. Hudders had no idea on how to stop us in the middle/plug the left flank. If that's the first game with a group of new players, I hate to think what we'll see 2nd half of the season once we been training together for a few months. Excited is an understatement!!

Muric 7 Not a lot to do, but clearly happy as that extra CB

Roberts 7 Caught a couple of times, but steady
Harwood Bellis 7 didn't really notice him, which probably means he played better than I thought
Taylor 8 looked comfortable and happy in that role
Maatsen 9 outstanding
Cork 8 great from the skipper
Cullen 9 mom the new JB, what a player he will be for us
Brownhill 8 great game
Bastien 7 excellent first half, but clearly tired in the 2nd
Costelloe 6 as Bastien, started off really well. I think missing the sitter got to him, and then he tired
Barnes 8 worked his socks off, and caused problems, but a quicker more agile player would have bagged a couple tonight.

Twine 8 only on a short time, but looked so comfortable on the ball, can pick a pass, and so unlucky hitting the post
Vitinho 6 not on long, but again looked comfortable on the ball

Unbelievable performance, considering how quickly they've been thrown together. Team 10

Outstanding performance first half and showed a strong determination second.
Of course Huddersfield could be useless, we’ll see, but we did everything we needed to.

Wow ! Has a team ever undergone such a transformation in style from one season to the next ?! That first half in particular was a jaw-dropper.

Muric 7...Nothing to do but enjoyed his composure on the ball even if I did keep screaming "Get rid FFS !" out of ingrained habit
Roberts 7
THB 7
Taylor 8...some great distribution
Maatsen 9 ...looked a real player. A constant outlet.
Cork 7
Cullen 8.. confirmed all the good things I'd heard about him
Brownhill 7
Bastien 7
Costelloe 7..would be higher if he'd buried that chance as he probably should
Barnes 7...nice dummy to set up the goal and stayed on his feet and played much more

Good to see Twine and Vitinho

To paraphrase Paul Waine "Exciting Times"

Very enjoyable game. I am actually surprised other posters haven’t marked it higher.

One of the most one sided games I watched in a long time

Muric 6- nothing to do in reality so hard to score him higher, feels a little erratic at time with some of the passes at the back
Roberts 6- over laps relatively well but final ball often poor and defensively just doesn't get close enough to his man, would like to see Vitinho start
Maatsen 8- looks a class above, will be a threat for us with hopefully both goals and assists this year
Taylor 7 - solid
Harwood-Bellis 7 - solid
Brownhill 8- looked a transformed player, great movement, shifted the ball much better and seemed to find space
Cork 7- made it look easy, nothing outstanding but just controlled it
Cullen 8*- looks to be the lynchpin in the system, thought he was fantastic, didn't matter if it was a long ball or short ball it found its target, quite often intercepted play and put us back on the front foot.
Bastien 7- strange debut, thought he looked good but not what I was expecting. Seemed to just do the basics but found some nice pockets of space, feels like there's more to come.
Costelloe 6 - did fine until the miss and then lost his way a little. Looks quick and nippy, may be more suited to being a substitute this season with us hopefully bringing another striker in.
Barnes 7 - much better performance, looked fitter, held it well and stayed on his feet more.
