Clarets Player refunds?

Post by claret_in_exile » Sat Aug 06, 2022 3:11 pm

Hi, all,

I subscribed to Clarets Player International so I could listen or watch the games this year, but apparently, they are "not available in my country" when I come to actually avail myself of the service.

They've taken GBP25 off me, but, of course, their email bounces back when I try and ask for my money back. Does anyone know how I can go about getting a refund?

Thanks,

Had the same experience here in the US. They got back to me immediately - game has been picked up here by ESPN so EFL rules say they can't stream.

"As the match has been picked up by an international broadcaster for your country, we cannot stream to that country only give audio commentary. There will be some matches this season that we will be streaming to the US when it is not picked up by an broadcaster

These are the EFL rules unfortunately"

You may have the same problem.

I'm in the US too. Either way, no point in paying if it's not working when I want it. How did you get in touch with them? My email bounced back.

Were audio streams free last season? Just went to listen and it now says I need a subscription.

I dug around and guessed at who to contact - S.Hawthorn@burnleyfc.com - he got back to me right away so I am now watching on ESPN.

Think this'll become a problem for the club. Can't advertise a subscription service without a guarantee of what people are subscribing to. Like Netflix but it could be a blank screen every other week. I'd have done it but it just seems a bit of a rip off. Perhaps out of the hands of the club but still... bit shady.

Same for me, set up the subscription as we are in Lanzarote and can't get it on. The club should be clear in what they are selling to supporters.
I would like my money refunding but no chance of that happening.

I’m based in the UK so I assume it’s less than that. Crazy money if you’re based abroad though.

Agree Pickles. If most matches are being shown here on ESPN (which I also have to subscribe to to get the games) then the cost per match on Clarets+ goes up. Wish we knew which games they could actually stream beforehand. EFL rules though apparently - not a lot the club can do I suppose.

£4.50 per month to listen to audio. I signed up today. I'll be at Watford next friday. There are other games I'll listen on audio. Plus West Brom is on Sky.

Hi Kitch1966 do you live in Lanzarote then? just we spend a lot of time out there, we were there Part of Dec all Jan Feb and part of March, we normally are out for Jan and Feb, but not next year off to Australia instead, out in November, just often looking for other clarets there to grab a pint and watch the match.

I paid the 140 quid for the years subscription.
If the games are shown anywhere in the USA there will be a blackout on the games streaming here.
Its the way sports work over here,no different to NHL, NFL or baseball.
Not the clubs fault,tv stations over here insist on the blackout system.

Definitely not the club's fault, but when they charge so much for their service and it turns out it doesn't work, they really should make it easier to get a refund!

They did make it clear that this was the case. But people may not have realised how often we may be on foreign tv.

Can you not just use a VPN to work around it?

Yeah, fair enough. And fair play to the club for trying. Just doesn't seem like value unfortunately - for reasons obviously out of BFC's hands.
