Burnley fan buys Haffners pies!!
As per title.
Haffners pies are wet to continue
After being put on the market, a couple of local brothers ( Burnley fans ) have bought Haffners, and are hoping to grow the business even further, let's hope we see their pies available on the Turf very soon!
Here's the link if anyone fancies a read.

Re: Burnley fan buys Haffners pies!!
Excellent news, and brilliant that they're retaining the current staff.
Re: Burnley fan buys Haffners pies!!
They have invested in some new equipment already, I presume to speed up production?
It would be great if they could upscale enough to supply the quantities required on the Turf as well as retaining that local feel.
Good luck to the two brothers in taking the business forwards.

Haffners are the best pies around easily. Especially cold.
Be class if they started selling them on the Turf but I think the quality would be nowhere near as good.

Weren't they offered the contract years ago, during the Cotterill era, but they turned it down due to not being able to supply the demand?
Re: Burnley fan buys Haffners pies!!
Good lad is Deano, I'm sure they'll make this venture a massive success. Good luck pal

Re: Burnley fan buys Haffners pies!!
Kind of. It wasn’t that they couldn’t invest and upscale, it was just that BFC were working on short term contracts (maybe 1 season at a time?) and wouldn’t give them long enough to provide a degree of comfort that they’d get a return on investment. They definitely wanted to do it but couldn’t take the risk.claretburns wrote: ↑Tue Aug 09, 2022 9:57 pmWeren't they offered the contract years ago, during the Cotterill era, but they turned it down due to not being able to supply the demand?

This is encouraging.
Re: Burnley fan buys Haffners pies!!
ArthurShelby, why would Haffners pies be nowhere near as good, if the supplied the Club with them?.

Re: Burnley fan buys Haffners pies!!
I don't know the two who have bought it but Dean's name sounds very familiar, maybe he's been on the message board or joined the Fantasy at some point.
Good to read too that they are not going to be changing this and that, a recipe for disaster, but continuing to make those wonderful pies.

Re: Burnley fan buys Haffners pies!!
For the same reason the Hollands Pies you get on the Turf are nowhere near as good as the ones you buy from the supermarket or the local chippy.
They are sat waiting in the oven for far too long
I hadn’t eaten before the game on Saturday so bought a pie at half time.
It was that dry and hard I’m sure it was left over from the Newcastle game last season

absolutely - aint broke don't fix. But can they improve throughput without compromising quality (if they want to get bigger?)ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Aug 10, 2022 11:36 amI don't know the two who have bought it but Dean's name sounds very familiar, maybe he's been on the message board or joined the Fantasy at some point.

Re: Burnley fan buys Haffners pies!!
Nothing to do with Haffners themselves, just the way they would be in transit and the way the club store them, and the way the are re heated about 5 times before they are sold.
I know people who work selling food and drink on the Turf, it’s a shambles, they re heat pies numerous times and then I’d they are unsold save them for the next game. Hence why they aren’t very good.
Re: Burnley fan buys Haffners pies!!
If Haffner’s want to ‘step up to the next level’ and expand sales they’ll need to package their pies with a batch number and expiry date which will be a major development task. But well worth doing imo.
Re: Burnley fan buys Haffners pies!!
It's not actually that difficult, there's lots of packaging equipment available but it will need some investment. I don't think it would take long to recover the costs though.

I'm not much of a pie-eater myself but good luck to these two and their venture.

Egg glaze, makes them glossy, not wet. Hand-brushed for each pie.

The factory is 5 mins away. They'll step up production and deliver a few hours before kickoff, perfect. Dean is a top lad and very astute. Looking forward to a Haffners M&P on the Turf v soon and on the away end at Old Trafford in 3 years time.ArthurShelby wrote: ↑Wed Aug 10, 2022 12:21 pmNothing to do with Haffners themselves, just the way they would be in transit and the way the club store them, and the way the are re heated about 5 times before they are sold.

Good luck to the new team and thanks to Raymond (John's dad) & John for the 45 years I've been enjoying them.
