What's your go-to takeaway?

Ordering in tonight and, I know it's hot, but I'm thinking curry. Love a chicken tikka biriyani but with the veg sauce switched for either madras or a hot masala. Garlic naan on the side and maybe chips.

Divisive subject, I know, and I'll apologise now for the in-fighting that'll no doubt ensue :D

A kebab from Tulsi in Burnley, the best about.

Chicken & donner meat on a garlic naan with garlic mayo.

Used to live on River Drive, almost across from Jaipur. Miss that place! And New Taste across the road for Chinese...

I tend to order Italian food from restaurants and collect, Turkish near the Turf have been decent kebabs on my last few visits. I’m very fussy on take always usually tbh though, prefer restaurants and usually eat out at weekends rather than order in because I don’t like drinking in the house

Baksh in Brierfield will not be beaten. Make sure you try their chicken pakoras.

Zorba from Clitheroe for Kebabs, anyways been quick, fresh and piping hot when delivered to Accy.
Indian always depends on personal taste. Some aim for a more ‘British pallet’ (generally, the really popular ones) others go for authenticity; but Asha always seems a very popular choice on here.

Been making my own curries for years now... Better quality products and healthier than from a take away. More recently I've been doing tea steeped chickpeas with spinach from Mowgli's recipe, and made up a dopiaza recipe that tastes pretty authentic

However, to stay on topic, once in a blue moon go to take away would be a spicy pizza, however personally I don't think Enzos is good at all - that place next to Screwfix was good while it lasted but locally we're missing a decent pizza place imo

I do like making curries, especially as just swapping cream for fat free Greek yoghurt makes it so much healthier without really altering the taste. Just so much easier to order in!

Baksh for curry - South Indian garlic chicken tikka, extra hot, extra coriander, garlic naan and chips

Chines , I go Home Rosegrove

Pizza - rarely get as there's none that are good ( I there is please inform me ) I live too far from Enzos , i like to drink beer at weekends when takeaways get ordered.
Enzos don't deliver, but if at my mates they get enzos and it's decent, but again not hard in Burnley as its riddled with frozen bases and fake ingredients.

Kebabs - again I have tried plenty but none seem any good, I end up getting a mixed meat tray fro A&D on Accrington Rd, it's just loads of meat in a big foul tray

Yeah the bhajis are brilliant too.

My go-to curry there is the Ajooba Moshla, give it a try. Not mild and not too hot either, it's very good.

Tara curries are ok, their naan breads are absolutely shocking. Used to be good when they made their own in the tandoor, but they buy them in pre made now, and that’s why I don’t use the place anymore. Might as well get one form Asda.

I don't have many anymore as the Chinese's in Padiham have gone downhill in the last few years.

When the lads come they like a kebab and love Hawalis. The kebab on naan bread take some eating. But all delicious.

Sorrento in Padiham for pizza, Bellfields for fish and chips or pie and chips, Summer Palace for Chinese.

I don’t get the hype with enzos and tara. I found enzos bland and far too much cheese which was also bland. Really struggle to understand why everyone raves about the place.
The curry I got from tara was incredibly greasy and liquidy, it went all over the place. Prefer Usha for curry.

I think you mean serranos. They are the best about for pizzas bar none and are my go to place! Love a takeaway and had a lot on the list down the years. Turkish best do decent kebab's. Tried Jaipur a few times and never had a good curry yet (I lived across from it for a few years). Aroma in Burnley is my go to curry house. Brilliant for both eating in and takeaway. I’m going to be in the minority, but I don’t rate Enzos. Once you have serranos, it’s chalk and cheese.

You can tell a Serrano's as the box is virtually grease free, reallybtop quality.

Rarely have takeaways but if we do it is from Spice Paradise in St Annes a restaurant that does takeaways they do a decent jungle curry.

As for kebabs I would rather go buy the chicken or lamb and make my own, and do people still eat that donner meat

Rarely order takeaways and prefer to make my own, but i enjoy cooking and i am a little more than competent. Last night I had one of the best chicken curries i have made - there is a channel on You Tube called Al's kitchen and he takes you through how to make all the different BIR (British Indian Restaurant) style curries. They all use the same base gravy with a variation on the spice and meat/veg combination, hence most takeaway curries tasting similar - Vindaloo add chilli powder, dupiaza add onions, rogan josh add fresh tomatoes, jalfrezi slice green chilli etc. The one i made he calls a Staff Curry, supposedly made for staff in a curry house who want authentic home made taste. It is made in the traditional style, onions, garlic, ginger as a base then spices and tomatoes and chicken. Using chicken thighs on the bone, i made a pan that serves 4 for a cost of around 6 quid and took me an hour start to finish. And i left out the ghee and used less oil than he suggests so a healthier option.

That sounds like a good idea with a big enough pan you could batch cook & freeze what you don’t eat for later certainly more cost effective than visiting a takeaway once a week.
