JBG did well to miss his chance! No wonder he kicked the post. Hopefully he didn’t rupture any muscles doing it.
The goal was a lovely move.

Re: Shrewsbury highlights
As soon as I saw him kick the post my immediate thought was he’ll injure himself.
From the highlights he looked decent though - hopefully can stay fit as think he can offer a more direct running option. Him and Tella on either side would help us move the ball forward more quickly.

INot agreeing or disagreeing, but have you based that on this 1.50 highlights clip? The Enclosure wrote: ↑Wed Aug 24, 2022 6:05 ami have decided......I prefer Lowton to Roberts at right back.

Re: Shrewsbury highlights
Very short highlights but 3 times Ash Barnes shows for the ball and doesn’t get the pass. Still gets slagged off on here for only having 10 touches. Stats eh!!

Was BPF playing out from the back? Didn’t really show it on the highlights.

Re: Shrewsbury highlights
More confidence in possession and inventive intent in a 2 minute highlight vid than in a season of Dycheball.

Doesn’t look like they created that much if those are the highlights.

Id have gone with Lowton from day 1 of the seasonThe Enclosure wrote: ↑Wed Aug 24, 2022 6:05 ami have decided......I prefer Lowton to Roberts at right back.
Roberts is a weak link at the back

We won that is sll the records will show. If we retained the ball better against Lincoln, Accrington etc etc etc we may not have been humiliated .

If Barnes was missing chances or not getting onto the end of through passes, then i would agree with you, but that's not the case.AGENT_CLARET wrote: ↑Wed Aug 24, 2022 8:54 amNo one is going to give it to him, he's slower than a week in prison

Re: Shrewsbury highlights
I’m not convinced that 360 passes in 90 minutes of football is a good advert for having retained possession well.
Also there is a huge difference between 60% and 80%. It’s another 18 minutes of a 90 minute game where we’ve held the ball.

Re: Shrewsbury highlights
He's not missing chances because he's not creating any, you can disagree all you want but how many goals or assists has he got so far playing has a FORWARD in the games he's play so far it's Zero, we can't afford to carry himNonayforever wrote: ↑Wed Aug 24, 2022 9:45 amIf Barnes was missing chances or not getting onto the end of through passes, then i would agree with you, but that's not the case.
Re: Shrewsbury highlights
Barnes has predominantly struggled on his own up front. There are exceptions of course (Swansea at home and a game away at Old Trafford spring to mind). But generally he’s rarely looked a threat when in his own. He needs a partner, someone to occupy other defenders so he can go 1v1. His movement has always been pretty predictable and primitive for a forward (lots of straight lines and reactive rather than proactive). He needs a partner more than ever at his age or his performances are going to be very limited.

It was in the game versus Lincoln which is what he was using the suggested we had similar control in that game to last night.clarethomer wrote: ↑Wed Aug 24, 2022 10:27 amIt wasn’t 360 passes in 90 mins

Possession is an utterly useless metric.arise_sir_charge wrote: ↑Wed Aug 24, 2022 10:29 amIt was in the game versus Lincoln which is what he was using the suggested we had similar control in that game to last night.
These days it’s calculated by % of teams passes compared to total passes in the game.
Better metrics are chance creation/quality of chances created both for and against.
We infamously beat Liverpool with 19% possession in a 2-0 home victory - footage from that game is actually used in certain coaching courses/ by coaches these days showing how to organise a low block 442 defense

Re: Shrewsbury highlights
One thing is sure, we'll score some good goals this season, and if we'd taken our chances last night it could have been a more comfortable victory.
Cheers for posting VC.

Re: Shrewsbury highlights
Very, very strange that their best chance, indeed the one that went in the actual goal was nowhere on the highlights.
I literally couldn’t tell from our vantage point whether the offside was correct or not. Presumed I would get to see it again…

There are extended highlights on Clarets+ and the offside goal is included

There's also the full match on clarets+. I'm not sure how quickly all these videos are made available. Also not sure if this is available to everyone free of charge or whether it's part of the £4.95 a month subscription - which is audios of all games. It's a good service.

Boring, boring, Burnley 85% possession and nothing much else.dandeclaret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 24, 2022 8:39 amDoesn’t look like they created that much if those are the highlights.
Shrews 15% and more corners, shots and incidents requiring defence.
No one gets on the bloody box!

I don't think I get commentary any more or other live events but the highlights are free.
