Mike Jackson role

Post by RVclaret » Thu Sep 08, 2022 9:47 am

Looks like his role in the first team is confirmed after impressing Kompany. Seems that he is specifically focusing on the defensive phases of our game.

Must say it's been great to see him involved this season after his efforts last season and was/is clearly well liked by the players. Having that continuity has been key with this summers upheaval.

Good to read.
Jackson gave me a very good impression when appointed for the first team after SD's dismissal.
His points tally after his appointment was impressive, so he must have a good report with the group.

I hadn’t realised Charlie Adam was involved in the setup…

Good for him, he deserves a chance to be involved with the first team.

Agreed ... he proved his worth in those final games of last season (even earned a manager of the month in April👍)

He deserves a crack with the first team.

Interesting thought - had we beat Newcastle and stayed up, I wonder if Pace would have give him the job full time, or would we have pursued Kompany in any event.

I would imagine that Kompany was in the pipeline at that time. His first signings were a bit swift I thought.

I think Kompany was already in the frame, I think I read somewhere that they were pleased Kompany still took the job on with us being relegated.

I got the impression that Jackson would not have wanted the job permanently.

Fairly certain that's what he said.

Yeah I recall him saying he didn't want the top job.

Hopefully his coaching of defence involves more than putting more defenders on the field.
