Burnley Busingye Football Academy Uganda
I've been following this organisation (which is an orphanage) on twitter for a while, and I know that some Clarets have been asking if the club could arrange something so that people could hand in their old Burnley shirts etc to get them sent over to the kids. I'd rather do that, but now I see that they have set up a go fund appeal to buy necessities.

Just had a look , and as expected it looks like the Burnley fans have been very generous as usual.

Re: Burnley Busingye Football Academy Uganda
steady-on fellas - is this organisation for real? The District of Rukungiri in western Uganda already has one soccer academy ~ Team Kibuuka select soccer academy, set up by a prominent business man (reported on here https://newslexpoint.com/benevolent-bus ... rukunhiri/ ). I can't find anything online about Busingye Football Academy (named after Rose Busingye?). I see that the fundraiser ("Kunihira N") may be based in Germany .... As I will be in Uganda later this month (pre-COVID I spent a lot of time in Uganda and other parts of the region), I have messaged Kunihra to ask if I can visit the academy, as a fellow-Claret .....

Re: Burnley Busingye Football Academy Uganda
Just to follow-up my earlier message - two possible areas of concern here. First does Busingye Football Academy exist and do what we are told it does? Second does the Gofund.me account transfer money raised to the Busingye Football Academy? There are some great things in Uganda that deserve our support. I'd always advise checking before donating, and going through established and reputable organisations if possible.

PS Same person last year (June 2021) started an appeal to raise money for fund bone marrow treatment for a student from Makerere University (the main public university in Uganda) https://www.gofundme.com/f/ywgf8?qid=cf ... e27e92dcd0. Since launching the appeal - which is still going, Euro 3500 has been raised out of a target of Euro 60,000.
I can't be sure, but looks to me like the update to the Nigerian General scam ~ and cases like this are ruining Gofund.me and other platforms which sone genuine charities rely upon now.
