Burnley Film Makers YouTube Channel has the Queens 2012 visit on there and the 1968 one made by local film makers.

I remember that visit in 1968 well and was thinking about it earlier today. We didn't have any Union flags to wave, so my uncle gave me a New Zealand flag instead (close, but no cigar). I think my uncle had a New Zealand flag because that is where he was taken to hospital, to recover, having been released from PoW camp in Japan. He was in hospital in New Zealand for the best part of a year before being well enough to be shipped back to the UK.

I remember the 1968 visit we got the afternoon of school and was on Tabor street where my auntie lived as the Queens car went past.

The 2012 one looks like something from Peyer Kay 😆 my daughter met the Queen that day at Turf Moor, she represented the Army cadets

A few old familiar names cropping up there from my youth.

Mayor Alderman Sutcliffe, MP Dan Jones, the Town Clerk Mr C V Thornley whose name
used to appear on every official blue notice board around town that " Trespassers will be Prosecuted"
That used to frighten the life out of us as kids.

I remember the 1968 visit in the infants and walked along to Accy Road with the class to wave flags ,seemed almost like the second coming.

Love that 1968 film. Interesting to see the town in the month I was born (just round the corner from St Peter’s church at Bank Hall). I missed the Queen by a week and a half.

Blimey, I'm on that 1968 film on three occasions in the Boys Brigade Band as a
15 year old drummer.

Fame at last. :D :D

Burnley was mentioned on R4 this morning, someone was talking about HRH visit to the town. I was taking car for service at 8 a.m. so radio only on in background. I don't know if it was the same occasion as King Charles III first wore his Burnley scarf.
