I've had to look it up.
He has apologised, saying it was an
Ill tmed comment.
In other words, I still believe I am right. I just shouldn't have said so at that moment.
It appears that some people stoll believe that the Monarch is responsible for all laws and policies in the country.
Perhaps if he thinks that, he does need to be taken off air.

He has said that black and brown people shouldn't mourn the death of the Queen, because despite racism being made illegal in the 1960's, it has flourished during her reign.
Or words to that effect.
He had apologised saying his comments were Ill timed.

Re: Trevor Sinclair
A bloke who in 2014 was "quizzed by police on suspicion of assaulting his wife".
In 2017 (court case 2018) he was stopped for drink driving (found to be twice the limit and subsequently banned from driving for 20 months) then proceeded to abuse the copper - subsequently admitted racially abusing the policeman (150 hours community service) and proceeded to urinate in the police car.
Employed, nevertheless by Talksport (would a convicted white racist have got a job in the media I ask?)
The other day declares that black/brown people should not mourn the queen because racism has been allowed to thrive under her reign. So a convicted (and admitted) racist offender makes an unfounded accusation of racism against a dead and hugely respected person.
He was suspended by TalkSport.
Subsequently has made an half-hearted apology of the "sorry IF it caused any offence" type - without actually admitting any wrongdoing.
Having played the race card and not getting away with it, now plays the mental health card.
I suspect he wont get away with that either- maybe he'll come out as gay or transgender next to try and keep the job.

Re: Trevor Sinclair
If this is kept on topic it will a miracle, however anyone who speaks on behalf of people who in the main don't share his views is an egotistical idiot, especially what he said when he said it , the first people to condem it it were the people he " talked " for.
Actually what is a convicted drink driving racist who it is alleged battered a woman he was married to doing anyway near a microphone ?

Re: Trevor Sinclair
To even think what he thinks is stupid. To say it, especially when he did, takes stupid to a new level. Not sure on what grounds exactly he should lose his job, but you could understand why TalkSport would want to distance themselves from him in a similar way to someone like LeTissier.

Re: Trevor Sinclair
With a bit of luck I won't have to listen him defending anything and everything City, because that's tiresome.
He called in sick one day recently, when City last went out of the champions League, that was predictable.
I'm pretty sure the City owners could have someone executed in the centre circle at half time and he'd try to defend them or justify it.
He's an idiot.

Just my opinion but true racism has vanished in this country, the belief that people of colour are beneath "white people" doesn't exist or if it does its the minority, it certainly doesn't exist in my eyes. Being called black should be on par with fat or ginger. It's more or an observation than anything else.

I know it's your opinion so I'm not setting our to trash it or anything, but I have black family members and I have seen for myself the different and negative treatment they get purely for skin color. It becomes especially apparent when I am with them in situations where there's no reason to treat them differently to me.fanzone wrote: ↑Sun Sep 11, 2022 12:09 amJust my opinion but true racism has vanished in this country, the belief that people of colour are beneath "white people" doesn't exist or if it does its the minority, it certainly doesn't exist in my eyes. But I do agree that it's the minority, and by and large many people in this country are kind and decent and don't harbour those views.

Comes over as a right proper self righteous little prick well lets hope he gets what he deserves the sack. He was obviously drunk when he made the tweet, like he was when he had his previous bout of racism when he abuses the police officer.
Idiot's like Sinclair shouldn't be given a voice as they are causing a divide in our society and making some people take sides, just like taking the knee as

Re: Trevor Sinclair
This Country has moved on at a rate of knots in terms of attitudes over the past 40 years, since I was 18 ...
The early episodes of " Only fools and horses " had to redubbed by David Jason & Nicholas Lyndhurst before going to repeats on " Gold ", due to some dated terms which were acceptable in the early 1980's, such as " nipping to the P***i shop " & " picking up a C***ky takeaway ". We have Gay Civil marriage, and at least informal blessings of such unions in the establishment church. Our Home Secretary, Foreign Secretary and Chancellor are from BAME backgrounds, and they are not the first, and we're now on our 3rd female Prime Minister.
I have witnessed examples of discrimination from all communities. A former Colleague was forced to quit a sales job at a furniture retailer in Oldham, as Asian customers ( 80% of the footfall ), would ignore him and go to his Asian colleagues, and these weren't 1st generation, so language issues would be no excuse. Indians of a certain " caste " have told me that they suffer far less discrimination in the UK than they do in their native land. An Iraqi-Kurd once shook his head talking to me, " This a great Country, you can see a doctor for free and without paying a bribe to get an appointment, you don't have guns, you don't fear the police knocking on your door, you can marry who you want, dress as you please and worship whichever God you choose, the British people don't know they're born ! "
No, Britain isn't perfect, no Country is ... but ask yourself why thousands risk their lives to get here !

Of course "black" isn't offensive to anyone. The context it is used in, or other words that are used alongside it can be though .

That comment in itself is racist, because implicit in there is the notion that we should not listen to anyone else’s opinion. The irony of a racist having a pop at a racist is quite amusing.
Re: Trevor Sinclair
Especially a man as familiar with racism as he is. Few of us know what it's like to be convicted of a racist crime.daveisaclaret wrote: ↑Sun Sep 11, 2022 1:21 pmI think he's making the point that when a person of colour gives an opinion on racism in this country we should listen to them
I don't accept that "black " trumps "criminal" when it comes to deciding who to listen to. There are plenty of more reasonable black people to listen to. Sinclair's chip on his shoulder is surely too big for us to learn much from his opinions.
Re: Trevor Sinclair
The guy is as thick as mince, and proof (if it was needed) that bigotry isn't confined to people of one particular complection.
