Rather have him in over roberts
Re: Lowton happy to be on the bench
Nowhere near as good as Roberts in this system, shame he’s missing out but that’s football

Don’t read to much into it, I think it’s sarcasm, in his time here he’s been a bit of a joker!
Re: Lowton happy to be on the bench
Roberts has been very much the attacking full back that VK has wanted him to be. We are a blessed team if we are sat 5th in the league and our right back Is the weak link.

Re: Lowton happy to be on the bench
Personally think Roberts has had a bang average season so far.
As for Lowts I think he definitely has the technical quality to play in this system but maybe could now struggle with the amount of running and getting forward expected from our full backs. I’m guessing this is the reason Roberts has managed to retain his place at the moment.
Early days for all our players though in the new set up and still plenty of time for Roberts to start showing the form he does for Wales and also for VK and his team to improve him as a player.
Lowts I think will be genuinely grumpy that he is not playing football - any footballer should be too. He’s been training now for 10 or 11 weeks and hardly had a sniff of a competitive game of football and possibly not much prospect of one in the near future either. Even if he stayed here because of his contract / salary for the vast majority of footballers not playing should make you very frustrated and on the odd occasion display that in interviews or social media comments etc.

Not a lot between them but Lowton offers more experience and physicality for me. I couldn’t help noticing that Roberts appeared to be the only player not to celebrate Jayrod’s winner.

Re: Lowton happy to be on the bench
Lowton would be fine in this system, in fact, he would actually be quite decent in that role as he's experience of playing centre half. It's only really his age that's counting against him and that's perfectly understandable. Roberts is going to be here the longer term.
Roberts is taking some unnecessary flak as it happens, he's learning a new way of playing and doing it pretty well.

Very straight face. No passes. One chance which he created himself with some brilliant control, then blew the shot.

Absolutely.Winstonswhite wrote: ↑Fri Sep 16, 2022 9:44 pmYou’ve never seen him play in this system so that’s a pretty presumptuous statement
Re: Lowton happy to be on the bench
Also a clear penalty not given for him against Huddersfield. All the pundits commenting on the game were unanimous in their verdict of a penalty.

Watch it again and you will see he does, he does his thing of kissing his ring first then slowly jogging toward the crowd of playersjetblackcat wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 3:58 pmNot a lot between them but Lowton offers more experience and physicality for me. Re: Lowton happy to be on the bench
Here’s the thing I think a lot of Burnley fans are missing; I don’t think VK wants him to get forward (which is his more natural position).
He can’t do, because there’s been times when he’s been in acres of space, or had a quick pass on, and he’s slowed it down. Have to say it frustrates me, but this is what VK said about quicker passing/tempo after the Bristol game:
“There is always a thing where you want to see the ball land in the net within five seconds, may the manager who succeeds in doing that tell me about it. The fact that we put Bristol out of their game takes a lot of doing. You have to look at the bigger picture, we didn't allow them to have the type of game they wanted to have. As long as we keep creating chances then we are doing the right thing.”
It’s clear that some of the decisions our players are making are tactical and they deserve our support if they’re implementing what the manager is asking.

Re: Lowton happy to be on the bench
Can't play em both.
Lowts is a good lad, and great backup at this level. And he's working incredibly hard on his fitness , even whilst away from Gawthorpe.
If Dyche gets a championship gig before Xmas don't be surprised if Lowton is one of his first acquisitions.

Yes its blatantly obvious its tactical. Just annoying and frustrating to watch when sometimes he has so much space in front of himNewClaret wrote: ↑Tue Sep 20, 2022 8:04 amHere’s the thing I think a lot of Burnley fans are missing; I don’t think VK wants him to get forward (which is his more natural position).
