Re: Strictly's Back
Kym Marsh was fantastic last night and fair play to her, at 46 she looks amazing. Best dance of the night for me.
Giovanni won't be getting his hands on the Glitter ball this time I don't think!
I am still trying to get my head around the same sex dance partners, fascinated really. I really enjoyed John and Johannas last series.
High budget show and very entertaining you've got to love a bit of Strictly!

I'm no fan of strictly, but last night I was unfortunate enough to witness the Italian version on Rai Uno.
Mrs DC said it was so bad Tony Adams would win it with his legs strapped together.

He really did. I'm not in the least bit Homophobic, but he really looked proper ****** off in the first show when paired up wi Richie. He's a great male professional dancer, put him with a female, and let him get on with it. Richie should have been with Johannes.

A tired old format that just canβt be modernised, especially the way they are trying to do it now. Last year was IMO their high point with the silent dance. That was a triumph. They should have finished it then, on a high. This year it is just a parody of itself.
Re: Strictly's Back
Itβs amazing, plenty of criticism from posters yet they still watch it, why would you if you don't like it? Can I suggest for those that like a good moan that they turn their tv off or change channels. Very simple really. Some of us actually do enjoy it.Chobulous wrote: βMon Oct 10, 2022 10:52 amThe worst part has got to be the judges dancing up to wherever they happen to be sitting. Christ how bad is that.

Absolutely right.
Those comments regarding freaks and wokeism show everything we need to know about their owners.
Just imagine being frightened of or being offended by gays or the disabled appearing on a television show.

You really have to laugh when a guy who has happily used the most offensive terms to describe users of this site, pejorative terms that are often used in connection with mental and physical disabilities, comes on here to lecture us because he imagines that a poster is somehow afraid of people who are gay or disabled.

Re: Strictly's Back
I haven't watched Strictly for a few years now, however it's certainly better than most of the other rubbish the channels constantly churn out, and as a Saturday night offering it's harmless enough.
Pity there isn't any choice on offer for those who don't wish to watch the mainstream telly isn't there.

Maybe you do but normal people on here will appreciate the spats I got into with one particular poster - thankfully now banned or just cleared off - were as a result of his incessant baiting.Chobulous wrote: βMon Oct 10, 2022 5:14 pmYou really have to laugh when a guy who has happily used the most offensive terms to describe users of this site, pejorative terms that are often used in connection with mental and physical disabilities, comes on here to lecture us because he imagines that a poster is somehow afraid of people who are gay or disabled.
His constant references to various subjects and his strange way of expressing his views ticked every box for the symptoms of autism which I pointed out with politeness and with some concern, having been involved with the issue to some extent as a teacher for nigh on forty years. I make no apology for that. The guy needed help. His bans from the board tended to back that up.
Luckily, he has moved on as has time. I know you were a great supporter of his politics and behaviour on here and still hold enough of a grudge to have a go at me at any opportunity but you really do need to get over it.
I'm assuming that you are neither offended nor frightened by gay or disabled folk appearing on our screens?

You called someone a mong. That is the term you used. Nothing to do with autism. You claim to have been a teacher, but there is no place in our education system for anyone who can happily use the term mong to describe anyone.

Indeed, Bosscat.
What a strange response from this character..
It makes you wonder how long this pent up hatred has been waiting to burst out.
I guess some folks have neither the manners nor the dignity to behave correctly, despite the oft-given advice.
A great pity. I hope the thread can continue.

Very good, Steve, very good....
Re: Strictly's Back
In response to the comments about me saying freak and woke pretty much describe it these days. Freak was probably a poor choice of a word but I posted in response to someone who called it a freak show. Before I go any further let me explain that I'm an old bugger with old fashioned values. I have a son who has Muscular Dystrophy and lives at home with us and I have friends who are gay, in fact I used to travel to work with a young lady half my age who was a Lesbian and we got on well. I do fully support the inclusion of dancers with disbalilities and have nothing against gays. Whilst saying that I don't wish to see men or women dancing together and fawning over each other.
I really don't see why some posters think I'm offended by Strictly simply because I think it has gone too far with diversity. In fact I think I'm more offended at posters thinking I'm offended (said tongue in cheek but you get my point) I don't choose to watch Strictly but my wife does so I usually end up watching most of it. I'm not that adverse to it that I need to walk out of the room but usually sit there on y laptop while it's on so it's not a case of switching the TV off or changing channels.
I think the inclusion of people with disabilities like Jonnie Peacock, Ellie Simmonds and Rose Ayling-Ellis is a good thing and I really appreciate the efforts they make. In fact Giovani and Rose winning last year was the most amazing thing I have seen on Strictly. The dance with the silence in it was a thing of pure beauty and I have to admit it almost brought tear to my eye. This was probably Strictly's finest moment.
I really don't see the need to have same sex couples dancing together and is definitely very Woke IMO. They can be diverse and include gay people who could dance with a dancer of the opposite sex and if they choose not to because they're offended then it them that has a problem with straight people. It is about a man and women dancing together and has nothing to do with sexuality. In fact Susan Calman pretty much summed it up when she was asked about dancing with a male partner despite her being gay. In an interview she said that she had received and abuse and bad comments from the Lesbian community because of it and her reply that it was her choice because dancing was not about sexuality but about a man and woman dancing together.
Strictly is a dance compeition which was entertaining but entertinment and diversity have taken over and dancing is now secondary. Posters have commented on Giovannis reaction to getting a male partner and being not to unhappy when voted off. This just highlights where the show has gone too far to please the Woke brigade, giving a dancer like Giovanni a male partner after what he achieved last year was unnececassary and quite insulting to him IMO. Can you really blame him for his reaction.
Anyway, that is all my opinion and I'm happy with it. Feel free to disagree with it, I will respect your opinion. Please respect mine and don't make out that I'm in some way offended when I have said nothing to even indicate that I am.

Same sex couples dancing in professional competition is increasingly common and there's a long history of it in dances like the tango.

As far as I can see, being woke in the case of Strictly, as someone pointed out, a peak time entertainment show and not some evil indoctrination conspiracy, means not being intimidated/frightened/shocked/offended/upset/
disturbed or bothered in any way by people with a disability or being gay appearing on the show.

I know we have had our differences in the past I wasn't having a pop at you,the way things are going with this forum and its owner taking a break presumably from the hassle,I think we should all think before we post,it's a lot less busy than usual and lots of regulars don't post much anymore if at all,it would be a shame if it gets wrapped up,but with all the other ways of getting our fix of all things Claret & Blue I can see this happening....we all want the same thing OUR club to be successful.....it really is nice to be nice...we should all try it.

Re: Strictly's Back
Absolutely, thanks for that, Steve.
As far as my role in any shenanigans on this thread, I have to say in my defence that I commented upon the poster's crass talk of the show being for freaks and wokeism and the guy himself has sort of addressed that, to his credit. No further er, "contributions" were necessary but what followed was some weird tirade - consisting of lies by the way - from some insignificant foe from God knows when.
Most of us appear to have learned and moved on from the squabbling days, most but not all.
For what it's worth, I quite like the Strictly spectacle whoever is in it and me and the missus have booked to see the Tour in Brum for the third year running.
Getting ring-side seats watching Nadge Bichkova, of course, is an advantage but, touch wood - no pun intended - all the performers on tour put on a cracking show.
They did the silent few moments of Rose's dance last year and it was an astonishing few seconds even though you knew what was coming.
It's like anything else, if you don't like it, don't watch it.
