Pakistan v England 6th T20

Post by tiger76 » Fri Sep 30, 2022 3:33 pm

Pakistan narrowly won the 5th match by 6 runs to take a 3-2 lead in this absorbing series, so England must triumph today to keep the series alive heading into the final game.

Topley & Gleeson replace Wood & Woakes, England won toss and will field 1st.

The last two have both seen Pakistan batting first and being kept to attainable scores but England just failing to pass on both occasions (by 4 last Sunday with still 4 balls left, by 7 on Wednesday).
Wouldnt bet against the same again but I hope one or both of Salt/ Hales can get us off to a fast start this time and put us in a better position. (the two openers have only achieved a combined total of 17 in those two matches).

Blimey, England going like the clappers in reply to 169-6.

118/1 off 8.1 overs; Salt 66 NO from 24!

Great knock from Salt, and England eased to a comfortable 8 wicket victory with 33 balls to spare.

Sets us up for a thrilling finale on Sunday now.

Yes- it's been a cracking series. Very competitive but with no acrimony that I've seen. I was hoping Salt and/or Hales would show some form today and help square the series. "May the best man win" on Sunday.
A lot of batting competition now for England for the WC in Oz in c 4 weeks time. Not too shoddy on the bowling front either.

England have a chance in the WC, but so do several other sides, alas I won't be able to follow most of it live due to it being held in Oz.

Strength in depth will be key, and England have that now, mind you so do the likes of Australia and India who will also fancy their chances.

Prompted me to have a look at my bookie's odds for WC:
India = Australia @ 3/1
England @ 4/1
Pakistan @ 7/1
S Africa = NZ @ 8/1

T20 very unpredictable though, I wont be betting on any games.
