Benson, Brownhill, Tella aren’t creative. None of them can make a killer pass and it’s leading to this.
Re: Match Thread - Burnley v Stoke.
Stoke seemingly desperate for a 0-0 or a spawny 1-0 if they get a chance.
We need to move it quicker, especially in the final third and maybe Tella could stay wide more often to try to isolate their right back much like Benson on t’other side?

How about a few positives?
Beyer looks superb.
Cullen and Cork have been excellent.

The problem with you is you’re not emotionally mature enough to handle a draw or a defeat without resorting to childish hyperbole. Sort that out and you might find it’s a decent place to discuss things rather than using it to rant to make yourself feel better.

Re: Match Thread - Burnley v Stoke.
My thoughts exactly!!.
I'll never forgive or forget Arsenal scoring from that corner given well beyond the alloted time with an offsided handball.
I know I should let it go but, I still hate John McGinley for scoring after Bolton didn't give us the ball back after we'd kicked it out for an injury to their player.
I do hold a grudge. Lol !

When teams are sat in like this I think it will suit Zaroury / Maatsen (like at PNE).

Re: Match Thread - Burnley v Stoke.
Quite funny because last season you spent all of it complaining about our poor ball retention. Now we improve on it and it’s absolutely shite and Dyche is winning the league at a canter, just because it’s 0-0 at half time against a team planting 11 men behind the ball.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 05, 2022 8:43 pmThere’s no hyperbole we are half way through a game. Dominating possession again, just lack that moment of quality to open the door but have faith I'm sure it will come 2nd half if we keep plugging away.

Still so much negativity. We’ve just dominated a half and almost scored a blinder. Get behind the team.

Asking for Improved ball retention after games where we had 20-30% is not exactly an out there statement.
Dyche would walk this league it’s not even close. Best manager in this league by a country mile.

Re: Match Thread - Burnley v Stoke.
Plenty of positives for me. Really like how Beyer is performing, very good on the ball too. Benson causing them trouble. Brownhill doing well with both Cork and Cullen. Just need to get Tella and Jayrod into the game.
If we score the game changes and I think we can score a few against this lot.

Ashley Westwood said on Clarets + that he wasn’t enjoying his football and maybe the injury came at a good time
But now can’t wait until he can play again

Nothing to excite so far except maybe the JRod long range effort that clipped the bar. Overall disappointing

Re: Match Thread - Burnley v Stoke.
Need a bit more natural width on both sides. With Vitinho outside on the left but Tella and Cullen running off him, and Benson coming in off the right flank with Roberts snd Brownhill playing inside him, there's noone comfortable hitting the by line to pull it back. As a result it's all getting a touch congested.
I'd like to see Benson and Tella swap, but if they don't I'd expect to see Maatsen pretty early.

Bottom line is pal if we happened to be winning this game you'd not be saying a word of this.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 05, 2022 8:43 pmThere’s no hyperbole we are half way through a game. I’m not even talking about the result.

But because we happen to be drawing it, it's "absolutely shite" and "the worst football ever".
Just control yourself.

Re: Match Thread - Burnley v Stoke.
If teams are going to sit this deep against us, we either work a hell of a lot harder at attacks at pace, or sacrifice a defensive midfielder and play 442 with the extra winger coming in and Tella through the middle.
Re: Match Thread - Burnley v Stoke.
Dyche had us 5th on Boxing Day the last time he was on this league without the significant rebuild we have done. Maybe you weren’t watching the football that season but I can assure you that first half of the season was a lot more ‘mind numbing’ at times than this.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 05, 2022 8:47 pmI don’t think I ever asked for this.

By the way, it’s absolutely fine to be critical of elements of our play (I have been here) but perhaps instead of the childish comments, suggest what you would do differently then you’ll see better engagement.

Re: Match Thread - Burnley v Stoke.
I said it in three or four games when we were winning at a similar stage.
It’s just my opinion, and if I’m honest There are plenty of posters on here that said similar when our opposition played this way in the prem.
We may well go and win this game but unfortunately I just do not enjoy slow tippy tappy football

Muric already called into action twice. Need to switch on.
Re: Match Thread - Burnley v Stoke.
I just can’t work out how it’s productive passing back to your own defenders just inside the opposition half when you’re on the edge of the 18 yard box.
