A great series Cracker, so many memorable moments in it, that still come to mind so easily, so many years later.
Love Harry Potter as well.

Re: Robbie Coltrane
Good as Hagrid of course, but actually phenomenal in Cracker which was just brilliant at the time. Great actor and always seemed a really nice guy. Very sad.
Re: Robbie Coltrane
Opportunity for Dexys Midnight Runners to top the charts again with their tribute song about him perhaps?
Re: Robbie Coltrane
I don't agree to disagree. You are wrong.

At least it was slightly funny when he used to do it.

Only on this board could an RIP thread turn into an argument about a joke that was never that funny in the first place.

Re: Robbie Coltrane
Bit of a shock learning of his sudden death tonight.
Probably best known to a Scottish audience for his role in Tutti Frutti before he really became an established international star.
Didn't realise he'd appeared in so many great movies and tv shows.

Re: Robbie Coltrane
My favourite bit in Cracker is when he was in the " eight items or less " aisle in the supermarket, arguing with the check-out girl that twelve bottles of whisky was only one item.

Re: Robbie Coltrane
A couple of months younger than me. RIP Robbie.
Met him once, of all places in Merthyr Tydfil. I'd just started working there and staying at a local (not very salubrious) hotel. The cast of "The Comic Strip" tv series were staying there for a few days whilst filming the satire "The Strike" - very amusing that turned out I thought.
The cast (Coltrane, Edmonson, Mayall etc) were all very approachable, merry and chatty in the bar on a couple of evenings.
I really liked Cracker at the time (mid 1990s ?) too but haven't seen any repeats- not sure how well it's dated.

Re: Robbie Coltrane

Funnily enough I've just had the same argument with my six year old. I nipped into the supermarket for "two things", beer and curry. He called me a liar when I bought two curries and four beers.lakedistrictclaret wrote: ↑Fri Oct 14, 2022 8:24 pmMy favourite bit in Cracker is when he was in the " eight items or less " aisle in the supermarket, arguing with the check-out girl that twelve bottles of whisky was only one item.

Re: Robbie Coltrane
Cracker is one of my all-time favourite TV series.....he was absolutely fantastic in that and amongst a number of other fine actors too. Genius.
The last thing I remember him in was the National Treasure drama on C4 where he played a celebrity involved in a Stuart Hall/Jimmy Saville type sex scandal.
