The Benson stuff is incredible coaching. That first game against Watford he was kicked about for the first couple of minutes and then went awol for the rest of the game. You could see VK speaking to him specifically at the drinks break in the first half and he has then needed time to toughen him up in training and has also used him perfectly in terms of when to start games and when to bring him on.

Wingers of that type often get kicked about and never get to grips with the English game because of it. It looks to me that VK has made sure that this is not the case for our young signings.

Not that I remember, Andy Jones who is the Athletics dedicated Burnley FC writer is very knowledgeable about us and knows his stuff. Always gives a balanced view imo

I doubt it, they kept Andy Jones on as a staff writer for them covering us. I’ll say it again, with no axe to grind, if you can afford to subscribe then do so, great content covering us.

Matt Slater of The Athletic was highly critical of Pace/ALK but it was Tariq Panja of the Nee York Times and that chancer Kieran Maguire who said we were essentially doomed and cast Pace as a spiv. And then people were surprised when he stopped talking to the press.
