Re: Benson
Quite the conundrum on whether to start him or get the benefit of his impact, especially against tiring defenders.

Re: Benson
He’s class but looks better off the bench than starting at the moment, strange one. In him and Zaroury we have two players that have the potential to go all the way to the top.

He just needs to play most of the second half because he creates so much. Absolutely brilliant coaching from everyone involved. He gets better every game.

Re: Benson
If gudmundsson performs like he did in the first half every match the current set up is ideal if you ask me.
A high energy Last 30 mins from Benson is going to terrify any full back in this league.
Back in May I never thought I’d be watching two players as exciting as Zaroury and Benson ripping teams apart this season.
Although I think the World Cup will provide a good break for us as a team, I’m going to miss watching us. We are a really exciting team to watch right now. Even in games like today, where we are really below par, the excitement is still there.

Feel a bit silly now calling him after only a game or two.
A definite super sub.

Re: Benson
That's now 5 games, so 10 points, he has won us off the bench, including all of the last 4
Millwall H
Sunderland A
Norwich H (his cross which Hanley handled)
Reading H
Rotherham H
Pace to burn, good control, a decent shot and , crucially, the ability to go both ways which means defenders just don't know what he is going to do. What a signing !!

He's a lovely player to watch.
I think we need to understand that the ability to entertain will not necessarily get results, but it is at present.
Long may it continue

He’s certainly developing into a very impressive player. Wouldn’t want to be a full back looking up and seeing him coming on after 60 minutes!

Developing?? What we'd have given for him in the last 7 seasons. This kid is the real deal.. well for us anyway! Everton will part will 40M for him
Re: Benson
Who was the gentleman who reckoned he used to watch all the Jupiler league games and claimed he was rubbish?
The same one who used to derail the transfer thread?
Anyway, I’d love to hear his musings.

Re: Benson
As mentioned, he's a brilliant player and deserves to start but yet he is so good coming off the bench against tired legs. Feels harsh leaving him out from the start but why change a winning formula?

Zaroury has the songs but I think Benson playing better at the moment. To have both of them is unbelievable.
Re: Benson
He's just something else and seemingly getting better. Did anyone notice he took an awful.foul just after the final whistle. We deserved our win but really shoukd have been easier. Have them two goals and missed a lot of chances. In the end though a great three points.

Remember when Villa paid 38 million for Buendía......Benson absolutely has magic in his boots and will go at some point for a ridiculous fee

A young player like most of the rest of the squad who are developing. Great and exciting to see under Kompany.LowtonClaret wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 11:15 pmDeveloping?? Re: Benson
He's come on loads since he first played.
His crossing and shooting, which had been lacking, are right up there.
I'd love to see him start, BUT he just seems to be such a brilliant impact player when we are chasing a game, and I'm worried he won't have the same impact from kick off.
VK obviously rates him highly as he said post match, he's got a lot more to come.
If he does... what a player.

No sale Benny is going to shine for us in the Premier league next season.Hes the best winger we've had since Super Glen.
Re: Benson
Absolutely agreed Woodley. No point in selling unless debt payment made it mandatory.
His price will go up, plus he improves our chances of going up (more money).

Re: Benson
Will go for big big money in 2 or 3 seasons like Zaroury will. Record breaking money and profits to made off these two.
Re: Benson
If he had been in the English academy system he would probably have been binned at 14 years old as being too small !!!

Re: Benson
Maybe he is benefiting from being coached by Craig Bellamy, I remember Bellamy used to rip into defenders similar to Benson.
