We could/should have put about 6 past them, yet needed a 102nd minute winner! Defending horrific tonight, an aberration and many players were below the standards we’ve come to expect. What fantastic spirit to win that though, brilliant.

Muric 7 - outstanding save in the first half from Washington. Good distribution throughout.
Vitinho 4 - I really like him but he was miles off it tonight. At fault for both goals, the second being a bit of a shocker and poor crossing throughout. Maybe time for a rest.
THB 6 - some very good, some not so good.
Beyer 6 - a few sloppy moments this evening but OK overall.
Maatsen 8 - looked a class above at times tonight.
Gudmundson 7 - really nice pass for the first and looked a tgret throughout. Maybe should have done better with his first.
Cork 7 - picked up huge amounts of loose balls as ever and used the ball very well.
Brownhill 6 - thought he closed off space for Zaroury at times in the first half but better in the second. Combative otherwise, controlled the shot well for the winner and will be missed on Saturday.
Zaroury 7 - gave their full back a torrid time. His delivery first half was a little off but some of the crosses with his left foot in the second half deserved better. A constant threat who pulled 2/3 players towards him consistently.
Rodriguez 7 - good to see him get another goal and maybe slightly unfortunate to have another cleared off the line.
Tella 6 - nice ball for Jay but his use of the ball otherwise really poor.

Benson 9* - made a huge difference once more and a fantastic goal.
Roberts 7 - Provided a great outlet, particularly against 10 men. Quick thinking for the winner and a little unlucky with the header.
Dervisoglu 7 - great to see him get a goal and a constant threat.

I've seen moments ts saying we were poor tonight, we weren't. We made a couple of very sloppy mistakes which Rotherham (who are a decent side) took full advantage of. They were hanging on at times though and scrambled 3 chances off through a mixture of their goalkeeper and last ditch defending. There were multiple occasions the ball just didn't drop for us also, but we kept our composure and really pressed home our advantage when it counted. A fully deserved 3 points in a very exciting manner.

I suppose you make your own luck, but I've rarely seen a team deserve a win and be so incredibly fortunate at the same time.

Muric - 6 - smart save at 1-0. Otherwise not too much to do and mo chance with either goal.

Vitinho- 4 - a shocker in attack and abysmal for in defence. Culpable got both goals and sloppy throughout. The intensity of the run of games might be catching up with him.

Mastsen- 7 - one of our better players in possession and ok defensively.

THB - 5 - shaky night defensively. Caught for first goal and generally a little hesitant.

Beyer - 5 - didn't do enough to disrupt the run for the second goal, and generally looked disconcertingly hesitant when opponents ran at him.

Cork- 6 - took time to build into the pace of the game but grew into it OK.

Brownhill- 6 - plenty of energy but didn't offer enough end product. Not sure about him as a left half and his booking was plain stupidity which costs us for Saturday.

JBG - 7 - showed some lovely passing in the first half and great delivery for the equaliser but faded.

Zaroury- 6 - a little hit and miss but nonetheless should have had a couple of assists.

Rodriguez- 6 - took his goal well but might have had another before half time and less of a threat after the break.

Tella - 5 - loads of running but missed a first half sitter and his final pass/decision wasn't up to the required level. I thought he was ready for a break after Saturday and after this display it will be interesting to see of he makes the XI at Sheff U.

Roberts - 8 - raided forwards well and his quick thinking with a swift throw in made the difference.

Benson- 8 - lively and once again the difference maker.

Dervişoğlu- 7 - showed nice feet and good to see him tuck away the winner.

Barnes- 7 - lovely finish, shame it was offside and generally occupied defenders in those closing moments.

Credit again to Benson for giving us an extra dimension, to all the subs for giving us a relentless energy, etc - but we shouldn't gloss over the fact that if you are as sloppy as we were at times in the first half, and are quite do negligent defensively, you will.get exposed in the clutch games which Will ultimately define the promotion race. Too often stray passes, over exuberant pressing and/or lazy recovery runs allowed Rotherham to break on us 2v 2 and 3 v3 and whilst exposed, neither centre back looked comfortable with opponents running straight at them. The second yellow was borderline and that's two games in a row that decisions have helped us get over line and that luck will change.

But - there's goals, quality and sheer bloody minded will to win in this team and that helps you make your own luck. This is a position beyonf our dreams at this stage in the season and Kompany’s project and if a few tires legs can be roused for two more games we can go into the break in a fabulous position. It's certainly never boring.

Benson 8* The boy is a magician. Changed the game again.

Barnes 7 - the type of Barnes I want to see. Put himself about and caused danger
Roberts 7 - did really well. Took the bit by his teeth. V good for the goal.

Sloppy performance but we pull it out of the bag yet again against a cynical team. It does feel like something special is happening.

Roberts 7 - far better outlet than Vitinho tonight, really good for the winner
Dervisoglu 7 - great to see him grab the winner and hopefully can kick on, should start if Jay is out

Bizarre performance. Created enough throughout but some really sloppy play, both with and without the ball. Pray that Cullen is back on Saturday. Absolute credit to the team for never giving up though, pure relentlessness.

Muric 6..quite hard to mark as not a great deal to do and the goals not his fault
Vitinho 4..I like him but he had a bit of nightmare tonight, esp for that second goal. A few poor crosses too. His pace does enable him to recover from some mistakes it must be said.
THB 5...thought he might have done better for the first goal positionally and he was less influential than we've been used to
Beyer 5...similar. This time I thought he could have done more to make life difficult for Ogbene after Vitinho had put him in for their second goal
Maatsen 7...at times showed really electric pace and works well with Zaroury.
Cork 7....good to have him back. Now need Cullen alongside him again hopefully
Brownhill 6...just OK. Was glad the keeper didn't hold his shot for the winner as he'd hit it a bit straight.
Tella 6....poor tonight but +1 for the nice assist for the first goal. Has to hit the target with that chance in the first half and took some poor decisions with the ball at times.
JBG 7....best he's played this season. Very influential in the first half and thought he looked pacier than usual too, maybe with match fitness returned
Zaroury 7....constant danger, variable quality of crosses but he put's so many in that some are always going to create danger. Would like to see him drive into the penalty area more at times as I think he'd force fouls.
Jay 7...Another goal and a solid performance. Bad news when he sat down.

Barnes 7... what a (disallowed) goal !! Even attempted a scorpion kick at one point and stayed on his feet tonight to decent effect
Benson 10 ,,,brilliant goal, instrumental in the winner and another fantastic display of wing play. Has won us each of the last 4 games off the bench. Incredible.
Dervisoglu ..7 . Prob not on long enough to rate but hell he scored the winner so has to be at least a 7.

Vitinho 4 awful tonight, so often he looks like he doesn't know what to do next and inevitably plays it safe. I'd rather start with Roberts and bring Vitinho on, rather than the other way round.

Harwood-Bellis 5 pulled a bit out of position and was nowhere for their first

Maatsen 4 seemed like his head just wasn't on the game at all tonight and when he got a knock I'd have swapped him for Taylor. Cracking shot near the end but that was his one bright spot of a poor performance.

Cork 6 never got out of second gear but didn't have to

Brownhill 5 obviously it's the tactic but again he spent most of the game on the left wing where he's ineffectual to say the least. Didn't see what he got booked for but sounds like it was stupid.

Gudmundsson 6 lush ball in for our first

Zaroury 6 his first touch is pure lol. A thing of great beauty. Final ball tonight, less so. Probably tried to play a bit too much through him tonight until Benson came on

Tella 6 some touch that to loop it over the keeper for Jay. Looked disappointed to come off but in truth, it hadn't been his night

Rodriguez 6 hope his injury isn't an injury

Benson 9 4 out of 4 that he's changed the game in our favour. Lovely strike and was key in getting us into the box for the winner. Still wouldn't start him.

Dervisoglu 6 his movement is very good, getting him into the right positions, he just needs to be a bit more confident and forceful. Poacher's finish though and that will do him the world of good.

Roberts did very well when he came on and Barnes was better than previous also. All the subs played their part, to be fair.

An odd performance this in that we looked very good going forward but gifted them the lead twice through really sloppy mistakes. There aren't any easy games in this league and with many of these teams, if you let them get ahead, they'll stifle the game, just as Rotherham did tonight. Fortunately we've got players on the bench who can make the difference and karma 3 Rotherham 2 was fair in the end.

Vitinho 4 - weak when defending and offered nothing going forward often slowing the game up.
THB 6 - passing was good at times. Defensively shaky tonight though.
Beyer 5 - has been excellent most times this Eason but was way off it tonight.
Maatsen 7 - they targeted him in the first part of the game but he’s fantastic going forward.

Cork 6 - kept us ticking over doing the simple things.
Brownhill 5 - not really involved and not sure playing that left hand side role suits his game.

JBG 6 - neat enough but doesn’t offer enough thrust on that side for me. Never beats a man.
Zaroury 6 - it wasn’t his night tonight but he kept plugging away. Final ball could sometimes be better.

Tella 5 - great effort but not his night tonight. Lovely touch for the first equaliser.
Rodriguez 5 - frustrated me how deep he played in the first half as we were missing a focal point up top. Looked jaded.

Benson 9 - 4th game in a row he has changed for us. There may well be a debate over whether he’s better coming on for 30 minutes but he can do no more to put himself forward for a start.
Dervisoglu 7 - this lad can play. Good feet, good control and moves well with the ball.
Roberts 7 - played his part very well when he came on including getting in the box. Unlucky with a diving header.
Barnes 6 - did ok. Got involved and was a nuisance for their defenders.
