Hampstead Claret

Post by No Ney Never » Thu Nov 03, 2022 10:06 pm

Forgot to mention this on the Adeje thread, but while watching the Rotherham game in Tenerife, had the pleasure of meeting the brother of a very well known poster on Clarets Mad and Up the Clarets forums who sadly passed away a couple of years ago.
The gentleman introduced himself as the brother of St Albans Claret.
I'm sure many on here are familiar with that name. It was a pleasure to meet him, both me and Herts Claret told him how well thought of his brother was among the Claret faithful.
Just thought I'd let you know.

Wow..my own thread . But I can assure you that rumours of my death have been very much exaggerated and my brother was at the game with me last night !

I suspect you may have met the brother of HampsteadClaret who actually lived in St Albans and was well known to me. He did, indeed, sadly die a couple of years ago and had been a regular poster on Clarets Mad and Up The Clarets.

Still miss old sparring partner Hampstead Claret. We had some enjoyable ding dongs on the old political threads and we invariably disagreed but he was undoubtedly a man of character and integrity. RIP

Then you'll be pleased to know that his brother comes across as a thoroughly decent chap, a reflection of his sibling I'm sure.

He introduced himself as the brother of St Albans and then corrected it to Hampstead, who lived in St Albans. I bumped into him and his family en route to Players Bar and was more than happy for them to join us. Hopefully see them again tomorrow for the Blades game before we fly home.

Yes Hampstead was an excellent poster, well informed on economics and politics, I imagine a teacher but we could all learn something from him. RIP

To be honest Hipper has a point. HC was my brother and we all loved him and still miss him. But he could be an inflammatory bugger.

He was certainly a lively poster but he wrote 10 more posts that were a good read rather than the selective one above. I was at his funeral reception in the James Hargreaves suite. He hadn’t lived in Burnley for over 30 years but there were more mourners there than Rovers take to an away game.

Great contributions from Hamps, both on here and, our old place.
Superb music threads, amongst other whole-hearted topics.

I went to visit my cousin’s grave this morning on my way to The Enclosure’s funeral and I think it was Hampstead’s gravestone that I saw almost across.
