Peter Kay back on tour

Post by tiger76 » Mon Nov 07, 2022 9:15 am

Tickets on sale from Saturday if anyone is interested https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-63537991

Good to see him back on the road again, and his mum does need that new carpet you know. :)

I’d love to go and see him, but I’m guessing tickets will be like rocking horse sh*t.

I’m glad he’s in a position to get back up there, he was one of the best around at one point.

I wonder if that type of humour will still get the same response as I always think comedians have an era if you know what I mean.
I suspect he probably will smash it, he’s a clever guy

Peter Kays body language has you in stitches, never mind his gags or true stories.
Just one funny man.

Totally agree, just looking at him he can get you laughing. I watched a clip from an old stand up and I was still in tears laughing. He is just the tonic we need in these rubbish times!

I’m surprised they’ve never returned to Phoenix Nights. It would be great to see a special or something.

He said he will only charge the same ticket price as his cancelled tour as people have it tough enough financially. £35 .

Indeed there was, and also that he had died.

Someone I know (who wouldn't normally make something like this up) told me and I put it on here. Never trusted a thing that that person has said since!

Didn't Dave Spikey blame Peter Kay for his career bombing or something 🤔

There was definitely a fallout. Think Spikey resented Peter Kay getting all the credit for Phoenix nights when there was 3 of them that wrote it.

Good luck getting a ticket without paying about 4 times it's value. The **** of the earth scalpers will buy them up using computer programmes. The average person hasn't a hope in hell of getting one.

Peter Kay was in the White Swan fence Friday having dinner, I'd have popped in for a pint if I'd known, only a short walk from my house, I wonder if he ordered garlic bread and cheesecake

I’ve seen Spikey twice
The first was at Southport and tbh it was

The second was at the mechanics as a warmup gig and that was a lot better

Seen Kay twice and had tickets for the tour that he cancelled so will hopefully get them for this

The other writer on Phoenix nights was actually the guy who played Ray Von, can't think of his name. He went on to play Jeff in Peep show.

Phoenix nights was absolutely brilliant , up there with the best , some of the characters are perfection .Though I’ve heard him in an interview saying they never wrote a 3rd series as the cast were so busy . They did a full cast live show inc Spikey et al , but Ted Robbins had a heart attack I think ?
Seen him live a few times The Lowry show in the early 2000’s was up there with prime Billy Connolly ,Sadowitz, Manning for the sheer timing and quality .
Saw him again 2009 ish , v v good but the audience were so entranced he could have walked on the stage took a dump and had a standing ovation .

Managed to get tickets for Colne Muni when he did a couple of warm up shows for his tour. At the end of the show he just sat down on the front of the stage and did an impromptu Q&A. He was very, very funny.

I'm sure the timing can't be coincidence but BBC have started showing the stand up shuffle thing again.

Comedy is such an interesting thing when you look into it.

I don't like Peter Kay's stand up, but I think Phoenix Nights is great.

Alternatively I love Bill Burr's standup, but don't like any of his TV shows (F is for Family).

That may be so, but writing is a different world - Spikey probably didn't receive the credit he deserved for 'Phoenix Nights'.

I love Peter Kay but I’m glad he had the break. Did anyone else think he was getting a bit stale and same-ish before his rest? I’m sure he will be back bigger and better than ever.

A friend of mine was on the film crew for Phoenix Nights.

Apparently, the agitation came from the show being branded 'Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights' when in fact the trio of Kay, Spikey and Fitzmaurice were responsible for the lions share of the writing. Personally, I thought It certainly showed in the Max and Paddy writing, which was Peter Kay alone.

Nevertheless, good to have the fella back and I hope his observations on his stand up show can be as funny as in the past.

That would have been with the young lady from Barrowford with terminal cancer that he did the benefit shows for. Her mother was on BBC News this morning and they mentioned him taking the family for a meal last week.

I got mine via the network 3 in the presale around 10:20am, bloody bonkers they let each person buy up to 10, I bought 10 for the Manchester show December 2nd, all these are Christmas presents for family I didn't buy to sell on

Three (with 3+) also had priority access codes for ticketmaster. It of course crashed at first but I tried at midday and managed 2 tickets in Manchester. Judging by the demand today it’ll be carnage for general sale tomorrow.

I think he will add plenty more dates after these have sold out.

Hope so. O2 wouldn't let me on the site all day.

I rarely buy tickets when they come on sale like this. Nearer the time I get tickets from a site called Twickets. Never pay more than face value on there, it’s against the rules. Usually less than face value.
