Isn't this just a transcript of the podcast?

Possibly- must have missed that post as I’ve stayed off here for a few days with all the post defeat fallout.

The article was posted an hour ago.

It's a good post, sorry, just thought it was more meat on the bones of the podcast.

Sounds like Dyche and the players grew apart and the relationship became stale before his abrupt departure. Mee is a genuine guy, contract talks stalled and a parting of the ways was inevitable. However both Dyche and Mee gave excellent service to the club and deserve our thanks.

...and SD was very loyal to Mee. I thought that Collins deserved to keep the shirt several times following Ben's injuries but Ben came straight back into the team every time he was fit

The interview is certainly a lot more accurate than the absolute uninformed nonsense written about Ben after he left claiming it was him who abandoned the club for money by some.

Abandoned is an emotional word that doesn't seem to apply but in fact he did leave for more money, and of course Premier League football. No-one can blame him for that but let's not make him out to be something special beyond him giving good service for most of the time he was here.

Good service for most of his time.

Jeez he’s been consistently a top level defender for us for the best part of a decade and played a key role in us staying in the premier league for as long as we did… not to mention a few top ten finishes and a European adventure

Also as well as constantly putting his body on the line (and his face on one notable occasion), he was a fantastic role model and spoke passionately and intelligently on a few issues.

But yeah… nothing special

And he was very well paid. I would expect good professional service.

Did he leave for more money than he was being paid or money money than he was being offered?

If, as it was reported, it was an 80% reduction then that a hell of a lot less regardless of the starting figure

If you were on £100,000 and was then asked to take £20,000 but then somebody else offered you £60,000, what would you do?

Not sure the 80% reduction applied to all players.

Maybe not but, it still applies.

If Brentford offered more than we offered, why would he not go

Absolutely, plus PL football. Anyone who thought themselves good enough would do it. the days of the "loyal club-man" are over.

Sounds to be happy at Brentford having escaped stale Turf Moor, a good move for him.

It was a bit stale, playing the same way for a number of years. There were frustrations around the club and the team, the fans as well a little bit. This season seems to have revitalised them.”

A little bit? :o
