Vincent Kompany
Master mind.
We've beaten this lot before, strong jaw 'n' all, but not like this.
Embarrassing to be a bstrd today.
Great to be a Claret.
Thanks lads, did us proud.

That was a 3-0 to the Burn-er-ley t-shirt producing performance.
I jest of course but it was as emphatic a derby victory as you’re ever likely to witness.
We absolutely trounced them.

I think sticking the dogged and determined Ashley Barnes as a talisman to lead today was a great choice.

Switching to a 4-4-2 and then putting Brownhill on the right to negate BBD was a brilliant move.

The thing I love about VK is him humility. He's not afraid to admit when he's wrong, and he clearly adapts his style based on the evidence he's given.
We say we've been lucky with world class keepers - I say we've also been lucky with world class managers.

City lost to Brentford, doesn’t make Pep a bad manager. Losing to Sheffield U doesn’t make Vincent a bad manager, even if we get a walloping now and again.

Superb man management as well how he has handled the Barnes down the tunnel incident… not only maintaining harmony but getting that performance out of him today.

Re: Vincent Kompany
He is giving us the best football since that great Coyle season when we got promoted via the play-offs and got within 30 minutes of the League Cup Final. He has got us to top of the Division. He has got a number of other Championship managers saying we are the best team in the division. He thinks about his selection and subs, and his managing his squad extremely well. He has a great connection with the team and his coaches, and he genuinely appreciates what the fans give us. He has got the best out of the old school-Cork, Jay, Brownhill, and today Barnes. What is there not to like about him. My only worry is that PL clubs will be seriously looking at him as their next manager. An unbelievable appointment by Alan Pace, and he looked very proud today as we led 3-0

I thought he said they'd have a bit of a rest?
Punditry either in Qatar or Salford is OK, we have coaches who are perfectly capable of working on details.
Re: Vincent Kompany
Pretty sure VK said the team will have a week or so off (holiday) then 2.5 weeks ‘mini pre season’, which fits in with his World Cup coverage.
Aside from that, couldn’t be happier with what he’s done so far; recruitment, playing style, press talk etc - 10/10 from me.

Re: Vincent Kompany
I was disappointed with the team he put out last week at Sheff Utd and the resulting collapse in the second half, but he got it absolutely spot on today as he has done for 99% of his time with us.
All those new recruits in the summer certainly knew exactly what this game meant today and they delivered big time.

This is our best football since 74/5 season. Granted its 2nd tier but I know good football when I see it.

Re: Vincent Kompany
The club played a blinder appointing him - really turned the negative of relegation into the start of an exciting new era. His style, leadership, the way he conducts himself - it's all very modern and ties in with how the club is going about social media now.
Thought at the time - when you hire a big ex-player, if they are successful they will start getting linked with every job going because of their name and VK is no different. Enjoy him while he's here because if he takes us up and does reasonably in the Prem, he'll be a wanted man.

Re: Vincent Kompany
Why won't be be here much longer?
He signed a 4 year contract and bought most of his signings on a 4 year year deal as well. Sounds like he wants a 4 year project.
Why would he renege on what he has spent so much time developing.
Does not seem the type to jump ship.

Ita not how you manage when you're winning - it's how you react to losing. And I a huge pressure game too.
I fully expect us to turn over Sheffield at home. Every set backbiting simply a chance to learn more

Re: Vincent Kompany
I expect him to get a promise to get the City job when Pep goes, and I expect him to want to be here until then. Pep after all got the Barca job in his 30s, but he won’t retire until he gets the Champions League.
If we go down next season, it may be different. But if we don’t, he’ll stay until City comes up. He has nothing to gain by going anywhere else, he doesn’t need the money, it will be all about City then Belgium for him. With luck, he’ll be a legend here by then and have our blessing.

Re: Vincent Kompany
Just to add, if he left 6 months into next season, then City comes up (only time in nearly a decade), what does he do then? He will end up with a reputation like another title winning central defender, Steve Bruce (who has hardly excelled anywhere either but jumped ship early days at regular intervals).
